Voters Must Choose Between Revelation or Revolution This Election Year

Written by Dr. Everett Piper

Eric Voegelin was born in 1901. In 1919, he enrolled in the University of Vienna. He studied Karl Marx, read “Das Kapital” and embraced Marxism. However, as he watched the Bolshevik Revolution’s bloodlust play itself out in the streets of Russia, Voegelin concluded he was wrong. Therefore, he abandoned socialism and its assumptions of race and class conflict and became a member of the Austrian economics clan.… Continue Reading

What Lenin Said About Christians and Socialism

Written by Dr. Paul G. Kengor

“If someone calls it socialism,” said Rev. William Barber at the August meeting of the Democratic National Committee, “then we must compel them to acknowledge that the Bible must then promote socialism, because Jesus offered free health care to everyone, and he never charged a leper a co-pay.”

Barber’s statement brought secular progressives to their feet in thunderous applause.… Continue Reading

Rejecting the Marxists’ Version of the Constitution

Written by Robert Knight

The first rule of any Marxist revolution is that rules are fine if they advance the cause or cripple opponents.  The rules can be discarded the minute they get in the way.

That’s the way America’s Marxists, socialists and many liberals operate when it comes to the U.S. Constitution, especially the First Amendment.

Here’s the relevant portion:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press.”

Healthcare is NOT a Right

Written by David E. Smith

Universal healthcare, also known as “Medicare for All,” is back in the news.  U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is joined in his advocacy of this entitlement program by most, if not all, Democratic presidential candidates, including U.S. Senators Kamala Harris (D-CA), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Cory Booker (D-NJ), U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro.… Continue Reading

The Left’s Growing Record of Insanity

Written by Robert Knight

To say the Left in America has gone off the rails is like saying the Super Bowl is a fairly popular football game.

It’s hard to keep up with the tsunami of cultural and economic insanity thundering through a thousand outlets every day, but here’s a try.  You thought Vermont’s Democratic Socialist U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders was radical?  … Continue Reading

Definitions of Socialism Broaden as Support for Capitalism Drops, Gallup Research Shows

Written by Wendy Wilson

Americans today are less likely to define socialism as government ownership of the means of  production and more likely to describe it in relation to equality or government benefits and social services, according to a new Gallup poll conducted in September.

Only seventeen percent of Americans in 2018 define socialism as government ownership of the means of production compared to twice that number in 1949 when Gallup first surveyed Americans on the term.… Continue Reading

Who is Karl Marx? This PragerU Video Reminds Us

Written by David E. Smith

It’s likely been quite a while since most of us cracked open a world history textbook or attended a political science lecture. So, if someone were to engage you in a conversation extolling the virtues of Marxism, would you be knowledgeable enough to form a response? Do you have a clear understanding of the Marxist ideals that laid the foundation for the monolith of communism?… Continue Reading

The Left Chases Alternative Reality

Written by Robert Knight

The American Left has so many people vying to be the Alternative Reality poster child that it may be difficult to pick a winner.

In recent weeks, we’ve seen a slew of entries:

Hillary Clinton recently praised an 11-year-old schoolgirl in Maryland who refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and “took a knee” like NFL players.… Continue Reading

Marx’s Apologists Should Be Red in the Face

Written by Dr. Paul G. Kengor

May 5 marked the bicentennial of Karl Marx, who set the stage with his philosophy for the greatest ideological massacres in history. Or did he?

He did, but deniers still remain. “Only a fool could hold Marx responsible for the Gulag,” writes Francis Wheen in “Karl Marx: A Life” (1999). Stalin, Mao and Kim Il Sung, Mr.… Continue Reading

Birthday of a Bloodbath

Written by Dr. Paul Kengor

This October-November 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the launch of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia—the bloody communist state that would produce a political-ideological killing spree unlike any the world has ever seen.

And yet, communism continues to find supporters. Here are three personal anecdotes:

I did a conference this past week on the legacies of communism.… Continue Reading
