Election Update: What We Know So Far

Written by David E. Smith

The final results of this week’s election may remain unknown for days or weeks with five or more states still counting ballots. Our continued prayers are needed today and throughout the upcoming week for honesty and fairness to prevail. Pray that voter fraud of any type would be exposed. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 20:23 that the Lord hates unequal scales.

We should not be surprised to learn how wrong the predictions of the establishment media and pollsters have been again.… Continue Reading

Taxpayer Freedom Caucus Formed by Illinois GOP House Members

SPOTLIGHT: If You’re Wrong on Life, You’re Just Wrong

Written by Benjamin Smith

The mid-term election is less than two weeks away and early voting is in full swing! With that in mind, Dave Smith and Monte Larrick welcome Richard Hartian, Chairman of the IFA Board of Directors, to Illinois Family Spotlight. Chairman Hartian stresses that Christians cannot abdicate their God-given right to vote and he offers sound, biblical reasons why we should vote in alignment with biblical principles that promote, protect, and preserve life, marriage, and family.… Continue Reading

No-Shot Sam McCann Doubles Down in Deceit

Written by Laurie Higgins

In response to the uproar generated by his utterly deceitful union-subsidized mailers, gubernatorial candidate Sam McCann tweeted that “all” he did was say that State Representative Tom Morrison “supports Rauner.” Unbelievable. McCann lied again. He did not merely say Morrison “supports Rauner.” He accused Morrison of being a “Republican in Name Only” (RINO) and did so in mailers in Morrison’s district in the midst of a difficult re-election campaign.

Then No-Shot McCann posted this on his “McCann for Gov” Facebook page:

I am disappointed by the shallow political rhetoric that Jeanne Ives used in her attack against me.

IFA Rescinds Our Endorsement of Sam McCann for Governor

Written by Laurie Higgins

Conservative Party gubernatorial candidate Sam McCann just committed an 11th-hour betrayal of fellow conservative Tom Morrison (R-54th) so stunning and so manifestly dishonest that Illinois Family Action (and other conservative organizations) is rescinding its recent endorsement of McCann. In a phone conversation with IFA Executive Director David E. Smith this afternoon, McCann doubled down on his incredible claim calling Morrison a “Raunerite.” It seems that in addition to losing his moral compass, McCann has lost his political compass.… Continue Reading

State Rep. Morrison: Vote for Jeanne Ives and Help Spread the Word!

Written by John Biver

A lot can be said in a matter of a couple of minutes as State Representative Tom Morrison demonstrates in this short video endorsing Jeanne Ives for governor.

Election day is this coming Tuesday,  and Ives is going to need every vote the pro-family community can help her get. Unlike so many primary races, this time conservatives have a genuine choice: genuine conservative Jeanne Ives or failed governor Bruce Rauner who has struck out on all 44 of his “turn around agenda” items and signed into law some of the most radical social policy legislation in the country.… Continue Reading

Just Say No… to Speaker Madigan (Illinois Family Spotlight #013)

il_family-spotlight_125x125A number of candidates for state representative have signed a pledge declaring they will not vote for Michael Madigan as Speaker of the House.  In the first part of the show, Rep. Tom Morrison and guests state why voting against Madigan is so important for the future of Illinois.  Afterword, John Biver (special projects coordinator at Illinois Family action) joins Monte and Dave to discuss Madigan, the pledge, and why fiscal reform is so desperately needed.… Continue Reading

Chris Nybo Illustrates Why Americans Distrust Lawmakers

Nybo interview

Written by Laurie Higgins

There are many reasons for the disapproval and even contempt Americans have for their elected representatives. These include lawmakers’ penchant for corruption and collusion in the service of their self-interests, chief of which may be their undying devotion to perpetual re-election.

Another reason for the subterranean reputation of many of our lawmakers is their commitment to dissembling. In a recent Facebook fit of pique over a short article written by IFI Executive Director David Smith that summarized State Senator Chris Nybo’s (R-24th*) distinctly unconservative votes, Nybo rebuked Smith for failing to publicly acknowledge that he, Nybo, had “refused to support” SB 1564.… Continue Reading

37 State Lawmakers Decline Pensions While State Faces Unfunded Liability

Money
Written by Scott Reeder

Four years ago, State Rep. Tom Morrison (R-Palatine) walked into a state office and announced he didn’t want a pension.

“I got a blank look in response. The General Assembly has an incredibly generous pension plan, and I was told I was the first legislator to choose not to participate in more than 14 years. I guess I was a trend-setter because today one-fifth of the General Assembly doesn’t participate,” the Palatine Republican said.… Continue Reading

Illinois’ GOP(P): Pro-Abort, Pro-Gay Marriage

Written by Pastor John Kirkwood

While Sandra Fluke and the “Abortion Barbie” – Wendy Davis were soundly defeated on Tuesday night and all over the country thrilling Pro-Life victories were taking place, Mammon and Moloch stole the show in Illinois. With Bruce Rauner’s victory in the gubernatorial election, there’s a new sheriff in town and he’s not partial to the unborn or to Biblical marriage.

Illinois was the cesspool that polluted the nation with Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Valerie Jarrett, and David Axelrod, all graduates of the Paul Alinsky School of Soft Insurrection.
