The latest research conducted by George Mason University’s Mercatus Center reveals that predominantly Republican states are by far the most fiscally sound, while the most heavily weighted Democratic states demonstrate the least fiscal responsibility.
The Mercatus Center study divulged that the 10 states managing their budgets best are virtually all solidly Republican, with researchers saying that “Red is the new black.” A state’s “solid” Republican or Democratic status is determined by voters’ selection in the last four presidential elections — with a state being solid if its party won all four contests from 2000 to 2012.… Continue Reading
Perhaps it’s time to bring back the American Liberty League.
Forgotten by everyone save a few history buffs, primarily on the libertarian right and the Marxist left, the League was formed early in Franklin Roosevelt’s first term by John Jakob Raskob, a former head of the Democratic Party. Its leadership comprised mostly conservative small-government Democrats, including the party’s two previous presidential nominees — Al Smith, who ran in 1928 (the first major Catholic presidential candidate), and John Davis, who lost to Calvin Coolidge in 1924.… Continue Reading
The great promise of socialism is something for nothing. It is one of the signs of today’s dumbed-down education that so many young Bernie Sanders supporters seem to think that the cost of their college education should — and will — be paid by raising taxes on “the rich.”
Socialism sounds great. It has always sounded great. And it will probably always continue to sound great. It is only when you go beyond rhetoric, and start looking at hard facts, that socialism turns out to be a big disappointment, if not a disaster.… Continue Reading
Sanctimonious Lawmakers Lecture Soverign Officials While Springfield Burns
Written by Monte Larrick and David E. Smith
Illinois is on the brink of bankruptcy, yet dozens of Illinois state senators found time to criticize the public policies of other states. Instead of passing a balanced budget, finding ways to reduce our deficit, cutting out-of-control spending, making Illinois more job-friendly, and fixing the overwhelming pension problem, our state senators are making out-of-state bathroom policies a priority.
Senate Resolution 1752 (SR 1752) passed by 32-14, the last day of the scheduled session. … Continue Reading
Ever notice how threats of force invariably follow the Left’s pleas for “tolerance?”
Let’s call this criminalization of dissent “totalitolerance.” This term has been around since at least 2013, but it deserves wider circulation, given the ferocity and frequency of progressive attacks on free speech.
In California, Attorney General Kamala Harris demanded the names of donors to conservative nonprofits in order to expose them to the kind of harassment endured by supporters of the Prop 8 marriage amendment referendum in 2008. … Continue Reading
Insanity! On the heels of Target’s ridiculous bathroom policy to allow gender-confused men to have full access to women’s bathrooms in their stores, Barack Obama and his administration decided to issue a federal mandate requiring all public schools in the nation to comply with similar radical co-ed restroom policies. These absurd policies ignore the privacy and safety needs of the vast majority to accommodate the absurd wishes of a few.
The fact is, males and females are created different yet are of equal and infinite value and worth.… Continue Reading
Hillary Clinton is working alongside billionaire Tom Steyer to sow a garden of climate change paranoia. Clinton is scaring young voters into supporting her campaign by leading them to believe that a Republican president will unleash a climate apocalypse.
Calling Millennial voters the 2016 presidential election’s “biggest cohort,” Steyer announced his plan last month to inject $25 million into targeting young voters. Specifically, Steyer will allocate millions toward an aggressive ground campaign based on climate alarmism.… Continue Reading
U.S. public opinion on abortion was largely steady over the past year, as Americans remained split on the morality of abortion as well as in their preferences for the “pro-choice” vs. “pro-life” labels. The vast majority of adults continue to believe abortion should be legal to some extent, with 29% saying it should be legal in all circumstances and 50% favoring legality under certain circumstances.

Moral Acceptability Has Increased, Longer Term
The public’s attitudes on the morality of abortion reflect a recent split, and contrast with a slightly more conservative stance seen in most years from 2002 through 2014.… Continue Reading
The leader of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference implies that the votes of millions of born-again Hispanics in America are up for grabs in the coming presidential election.
Hispanic evangelicals met in Anaheim, California, last weekend for what was tabbed as “Latin Leaders Fest.” The two-day event featured speakers such as evangelist Luis Palau and Pastor Alberto Delgado, and the husband-and-wife worship team Nic Gonzales and Jaci Velasquez.
During the gathering, both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump made video pitches to the Latin Leaders Fest.… Continue Reading
Both major political parties are now locked in a death struggle. The irony is that they are attempting not to annihilate each other, but rather to survive the onslaught of the voters. No longer is the struggle between Democrat and Republican; it is between the landed gentry and the peasants.
Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders are the villains, as far as the ensconced parties are concerned. Thus, we have the very bizarre spectacle of Republicans saying that, in a general election, they will defect, preferring Hillary Clinton to Trump, and Democrats vowing to vote for Trump rather than for Clinton. … Continue Reading
The 2016 Illinois Republican Convention was held in Peoria this past weekend on Friday and Saturday. We are thrilled to report that leftists within the party failed to advance their agenda in the newly adopted 2016 Illinois GOP Platform.
If fact, Illinois Republicans strengthened the Right to Life plank in the platform and rejected an attempt to water down and distort the Marriage and Family plank!
THANK YOU to all of you who took time last week to contact the members of the platform committee and helped to spread the word of the attempt to subvert the Marriage and Family plank. … Continue Reading
