Community Unit School District 300 (D300), based in Algonquin, Illinois, is the sixth-largest district in the state, serving families across Kane, McHenry, Cook, and DeKalb counties. While the school board ought to be focused on academic excellence and serving students, instead, the spotlight has been stolen by Vice President of the Board of Education, Nancy Zettler—whose reckless words have inflamed the community and dishonored her office.

As a university president, I had a front-row seat as I watched hundreds of students descend onto my campus every year. Each fall, I watched with growing discomfort as the increase in self-centeredness became more apparent.
From the athlete who was upset because his coach was too harsh, to the student who failed a test because the professor was “unfair,” to the coed who was incredulous because a faculty member dared to penalize her for skipping class, over and over again, I watched as one generation after another strutted into the classroom with the confidence that they were God’s gift to the ivory tower, regardless of their academic performance (or lack thereof).… Continue Reading

Comments Off on Devastating Consequences of Abandoning Truth

In this week’s column, I was going to summarize President Biden’s reelection video from last Tuesday. But George Orwell did it 74 years ago.
Big Brother’s slogan in the 1949 novel “1984” mirrors our sunglass-sporting “unity” president. Everything he says is the polar opposite of the truth.
As violent imagery flashes by, he says: “The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom.… Continue Reading

Last week in the news:
In New York City, at Trinity School on the Upper West Side, where parents pay $60,000 per year for their sons and daughters to get “a balanced educational program for body and soul,” Jennifer Norris, Director of Student Activities, proudly boasts, to an undercover reporter, that she works at
“a real fancy school … I can’t pretend I’m promoting an agenda even though I clearly am with all the stuff I’m doing… I feel like I’m a double agent… Unfortunately, it’s the white boys who feel very entitled to express their opposite opinions… There is a huge contingent of them that are just horrible… [They] are so protected by capitalism that it makes me sad…We just need someone like Dexter (a fictional vigilante serial killer) to ‘take them out.’”

Comments Off on America’s School Curriculum: Garbage In, Garbage Out
From IFA Staff Reports
Illinois Family Action is pleased to endorse Win Stoller for re-election to the 37th District. He is a strong and passionate defender of life from conception to natural death. He vehemently opposed the unilateral Pritzker lockdowns and has fought to reduce taxes and wasteful Springfield spending that hurts our families.
In his own words, from a district-wide mailing:
Pro-Life: Illinois State Senator Win Stoller is 100% pro-life and supports the unborn.
“It grieves me that our state has adopted the most extreme and radical abortion laws in the nation.

You can’t blame the FBI for seemingly missing every mass shooter or domestic terrorist. After all, the bureau is stretched thin hatching kidnapping plots in Michigan, investigating garage door ropes, and finding anyone who was within a half a mile of the Capitol on January 6. But what about those who are obsessed with white supremacism? Aren’t they the least bit concerned that most of the recent mass casualty shootings and domestic terror attacks appear to be committed by black nationalists?… Continue Reading

America was founded and expanded from sea to sea by rugged individualists, freedom-loving men and women who believed in personal responsibility, self-sufficiency, and independence. Our pioneering ancestors had a no-excuses attitude toward life. They believed in working hard, smart, and long to build better lives for themselves and their families, wanted opportunities not handouts, would accept only what they earned, and preferred a government that stayed out of their way.… Continue Reading

This past week I was contacted by a reporter from the Religion News Service. His reason for calling me was to get my views concerning critical race theory. He wanted to know why I opposed it.
I told the reporter that I am against CRT because it is the exact opposite of the Gospel of Christ. “How so?” he asked.
“Well,” I said, “First of all, CRT is grounded in revenge.… Continue Reading

Comments Off on Critical Race Theory is the Opposite of Christianity

The self-government called for in the first sentence of the U.S. Constitution (“We the people”) doesn’t ever take a breather. With elections every two years in our state and nation, one election season ends and another begins. Primary election cycles give way to the General Election cycle whether in presidential years and elections for state constitutional offices or our local consolidated elections.
In the wake of two contrived impeachments against President Donald J.… Continue Reading

Few modern topics have become as divisive as critical race theory, which is no surprise, given that CRT divides. It divides people into groups pitted against one another, into categories of oppressed vs. oppressor. What’s worse, your group defines you. This certainly flies in the face of the Judeo-Christian conception of all individuals as children of God made in the image of God.
What’s making CRT even worse are misunderstandings and misconceptions on both sides, from the left and the right.… Continue Reading
