SPOTLIGHT: A Christlike Response to Sexual Anarchy

Written by David E. Smith

Welcome to a special edition of Illinois Family Spotlight featuring IFI’s Cultural Analyst and self-described “accidental activist,” Laurie Higgins. In an address given at Grace Fellowship Church in the western suburbs, Laurie talks about what she feels is the most significant revolution in history – the Trans Revolution. She delineates the distinctions of biological sex, gender, gender identity, and cis-gender.

Laurie also discusses gender dysphoria, social contagion, desistance, detransitioning, and the controversial use of puberty blockers.… Continue Reading

The Left’s Slippery Slope

Written by Elad Hakim

Republicans and Democrats agree on little these days.  This is especially true when it comes to certain social issues.  For example, many Republicans believe in the traditional definition of marriage (man and woman).  Democrats, on the other hand, take a much broader approach.  Republicans tend to believe that a person is born as a man or a woman and that science dictates one’s sex.  Democrats have a different view.  One thing is certain: the country is currently on a left-leaning, steep, and slippery slope to the abyss.… Continue Reading

Is It Okay to Be Angry with Leftists Promoting Transgenderism?

Written by John Biver

In this week’s Spotlight, is Laurie Higgins, the Cultural Affairs Writer for the Illinois Family Institute.

They converse on the Masterpiece Cakeshop case before the U.S. Supreme Court, something called the Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID) which Laurie asserts is similar to the transgender movement, the government’s role in the institution of marriage, and the role of Anger in the Christian Church.

Higgins emphasizes that it’s important to use proper analogies when writing about what the LGBTQIA letters truly represent.… Continue Reading

Higgins Responds to Reader’s Concerns

Written by David E. Smith

I recently asked Laurie Higgins, the cultural affairs writer for the Illinois Family Institute, to join me in a podcast. In this episode of Illinois Family Spotlight, we discuss Laurie’s satirical, sarcastic and sassy style of writing, which makes some people uncomfortable. Unfortunately, there are even some who go so far as to say that it is unbiblical or not Christ-like. I understand where this is coming from, but I think it is often misapplied or too often used as an excuse to remain silent.… Continue Reading

Information on the ‘Transgender’ Bathroom/Locker Room Debate

Here is the latest national news regarding the bathroom/locker room issue as reported by LifeSiteNews.

President Trump is dropping his predecessor’s unpopular “transgender” federal order pressuring schools to let gender-confused boys use girls’ restrooms and locker rooms, and vice versa, according to the White House spokesman.

. . .

Ryan Sorba, chairman of Young Conservatives of America, commended Trump for “keeping his word to the American people” by rescinding Obama’s transgender-school edict, which touched off lawsuits by aggrieved states and a cascade of criticism nationwide.

How does one tell the difference between gravity and frivolity? The Chicago City Council is a superb yardstick.

The agenda of the council’s June 22 meeting will ensure a descent into the abyss of frivolity and stupidity. At that session, the council is scheduled to address such momentous matters as transgender or any gender access to public restrooms, along with a mandated “poop patrol,” with a swarm of inspectors empowered to find dog droppings on private property, bag them, ascertain the DNA, do a dog swab, and levy a fine of $500.… Continue Reading

Written by Joe Newby

For the second time, the George Soros-funded John Kasich told Christians to “get over it” on religious liberty laws and laws that require people to use the bathroom designated for the gender with which they were born.

“What I’d like to say is, just relax,” he said during an appearance at CNN. “If you don’t like what somebody’s doing, pray for them, and if you feel as though somebody is doing something wrong against you, can you just for a second get over it?… Continue Reading

Here’s a quote for you:

The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardliness, it is conformity. — Rollo May

Here’s what courage sounds like:

Don’t waste your breath trying to bully me in Louisiana. It is absolutely constitutional to have religious liberty and economic freedoms. — Bobby Jindal

It’s also called leadership — you can’t have genuine leadership without courage.

What we’ve heard from most of the Republican candidates for president isn’t exactly inspirational when it comes to the issue of marriage.… Continue Reading
