Bailey: Action Items For The IL GOP

Written by David E. Smith

Former State Senator Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) has been posting personal video content on his Bailey for Illinois Facebook page for years now. These updates include political commentary, campaign updates, a Christian devotional readings and prayer. Since these video commentaries are very informative and encouraging, I often share these postings on my own personal social media platforms.

One such recent video post deserves much greater attention by a much greater audience.

In his video post on Tuesday, August 6th, Darren highlighted some issues that have been on the minds of grass-root conservatives for some time regarding the Illinois Republican Party.… Continue Reading

Joe Walsh Wants More Bipartisanship, Which Means Less Joe Walsh

Written by Peter Heck

I admit I know very little about former one-term congressman Joe Walsh of Illinois. Some quick online research reveals that he was a tea party activist elected in the anti-Obamacare Republican wave of 2010. During his short tenure in office, Walsh appears to have carved out a reputation as a staunch and sometimes harsh critic of former President Obama, and a reliable vote for conservative policy.

When he lost his re-election bid to Tammy Duckworth in 2012, Walsh went on to host a conservative talk radio show before announcing a presidential primary run against Donald Trump‘s re-election bid in the 2020 cycle.… Continue Reading

Joe Walsh’s Misguided Self-Serving Candidacy

Written by David E. Smith and John Biver

Some Illinoisans wonder how Joe Walsh morphed from a Trump-supporter into a Trump-hater so intense he’s decided to run against Trump in the 2020 primaries. What strikes many as odd about Walsh’s transformation is that Trump has accomplished much of what he promised and has governed more conservatively than many expected.

Perhaps Walsh, like other Trump-haters, paid too much attention to Trump’s tweets and too little attention to all the good Trump has accomplished for the American people, including record low unemployment among blacks and Hispanics, good judicial appointments, deregulation, moving the U.S.… Continue Reading

Joe Walsh Challenging Trump in the Primaries (Part 1)

Written by David E. Smith and John Biver

Joe Walsh, one-term congressman and failing radio talk show host, announced on August 25th that he is now a candidate for president of the United States and will challenge President Donald J. Trump in the Republican primaries. No, this is not an article from the satirical website The Onion.

According to one news source, other people considering a run against President Trump are “former Tennessee Senator Bob Corker; Mark Sanford, a former South Carolina congressman who was also the state’s governor; and former Ohio Governor John Kasich.”… Continue Reading

Republicans Ignore Abortion as a Wedge Issue

McHenry County Blog – Former Illinois State Representative

In 2010 State Senator Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) lost the gubernatorial race to Pat Quinn by 31,834 votes–less than one percentage point. Brady took a pounding from the pro-abortion Personal PAC’s television ads starting in early August.

Unlike Bill Clinton in his 1992 contest against George Bush, Brady never responded when he was attacked. On the abortion issue, he stood there like a punching bag and took the blows.… Continue Reading

Today is Election Day — Get Out and Vote!

Polls are open from 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. today!

Written by John Biver

Back on March 1st the Illinois Family Action held a staff meeting and before getting to the business of the day, executive director Dave Smith asked me if I heard that Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan’s choice for Mayor of Aurora had lost the previous day.

That’s when I remembered that February 28, 2017 was Consolidated Primary Election day.

I forgot to vote!Continue Reading

Dan McConchie held a campaign launch rally for his race to become the next state representative of the 51st district Saturday afternoon before an estimated crowd of 200 people. It was held at the home of former Congressman Joe Walsh who is a constituent of the district and has already publicly endorsed McConchie along with the area’s senator, Dan Duffy.

Many of the attendees took petition packets vowing to help get McConchie on the ballot.… Continue Reading

The Weak Link in the GOP Senate Majority?

Senator Kirk and the GOP need to think hard about what happens next.

Written by John Fund

Illinois U.S. Senator Mark Kirk has won a lot of respect for his gritty recovery from a serious stroke in 2012. But his fellow Republicans worry that his recent political and verbal stumbles make him the most vulnerable GOP incumbent up for reelection in 2016 in a state Barack Obama won with 58 percent of the vote in 2012.… Continue Reading

Joe Walsh Emerges as First Potential Primary Challenger to RINO Mark Kirk

Written by IllinoisReview.com

Former Republican congressman and conservative radio host Joe Walsh says he’s “seriously looking into” a primary challenge to U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk next year. He told Illinois Review he will decide within the next two months.

Citing Kirk’s lack of support for Jim Oberweis’ 2014 challenge to Dick Durbin, Walsh told the Daily Herald: “As far as I’m concerned, he [Kirk] left the Republican Party.”

The usual political pontificators speculate that Walsh is merely looking to boost ratings, and will ultimately not run.… Continue Reading
