On August 19, The Wall Street Journal published an article titled “It Now Costs $300,000 to Raise a Child.” The calculation came from a study at the Brookings Institution, which in turn relied on data gathered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
$300,000 is a lot of money. A primary reason that the cost of raising a child is so high is the everyday reality we all face: high inflation.… Continue Reading

What is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)? Wikipedia defines CSR as “a form of … private business self-regulation which aims to contribute to societal goals of a philanthropic, activist, or charitable nature.” That seems rather vague, even amorphous. As Wikipedia acknowledges, “A wide variety of definitions have been developed but with little consensus.”
Investopedia says that CSR “helps a company be socially accountable to itself, its stakeholders, and the public” and that CSR helps companies be aware of their impact “on all aspects of society, including economic, social, and environmental.”

“Information is power” and the Medical Freedom vs. Medical Tyranny Forum hosted by Illinois Family Institute was clearly an evening of empowerment! Attended by an estimated 500 people–young and old alike–the audience, rapt with attention, benefitted from the insights of Dr. Simone Gold*, MD,FD, founder of America’s Frontline Doctors (AFLDS).
In her presentation on May 17, 2022, Dr. Gold provided energy-packed insight around this idea penned by Thomas Jefferson to Charles Yancey, ironically on January 6, 1816:
“If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.”

Hospitals need to back off their authoritarian “we know best” posture and respect what a patient’s family wants.
At 10 a.m. Saturday, Royal London Hospital stopped life support for 12-year-old Archie Battersbee, against his parents’ wishes. He was dead by 12.15 p.m. Millions had followed his case since April, when his mother found him unconscious on the floor.
Apparently, he took a dangerous dare promoted on TikTok to hold his breath until he blacked out.… Continue Reading

If you want to know what Democrats are attacking at any given time, just watch how they label something. It’s the opposite of what it would mean to any normal person.
For instance, “reproductive care” is not about reproducing, that is, having babies. It’s about abortion or preventing pregnancies.
“Gender affirming” or “gender confirming” policies do not verify actual genders. Instead, they deny biology and elevate delusions into enforced falsehoods. They should be called “gender denying” policies.… Continue Reading

The U.S. House passed H.R. 8404 yesterday to repeal the federal Defense of Marriage Act, also known as DOMA. It passed by a vote of 267-157 with 47 Republicans joining every Democrat. Seven Republicans did not vote.
The bill’s sponsor is leftwing U.S. Representative Jarrold Nadler (D-NY), who has been in Congress for 30 years. There were 179 cosponsors in the U.S. House–all Democrats–who are working feverishly to respond to the Dobbs opinion and U.S.… Continue Reading

In this episode of Spotlight, Self Evident’s Jenna Smith interviews Will and Meeke Addison. This power couple hosts a a daily radio/podcast program focused on Marriage, Family and the Church titled “Airing the Addisons” on American Family Radio.
Will and Meeke were keynote speakers at this year’s Illinois Christian Home Educators conference, where they spoke on the vital importance of discipling your children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and the opportunities homeschooling provides: “We see [homeschooling] as an opportunity to pour in our children and make them culture proof.”… Continue Reading

One thing I’ve learned by living in the reality of rural America as opposed to the concrete and neon of Washington or New York City is that freedom can be deceiving. Or maybe better said, freedom is often the opposite of what it appears to be.
For example, when I drive through the ranches of Kansas and see cattle roaming freely in the fields, they are always surrounded by a fence.… Continue Reading

This past week our nation saw another morally lost young man enter a local school and proceed to shoot and kill 19 children and two teachers. The next shoe to drop was as predictable as the sunrise: Our nation’s elites rushed to their respective podiums to score political points. Their solution? Remove the personal rights of all law-abiding Americans and replace these rights with more laws.
In the minds of our country’s political class, this is the only solution.… Continue Reading
