When It Comes To China, We All Need Renewed Moral Clarity

The U.S Senate unanimously passed a bill this week to support pro-democracy efforts in Hong Kong, a move that prompted an angry response from Beijing. According to Reuters, the measure requires that the U.S. “certify at least once a year that Hong Kong retains enough autonomy to qualify for special U.S. trading consideration.” A separate bill, also passed unanimously, places a moratorium on selling crowd control “munitions” (such as tear gas, pepper spray, rubber bullets and stun guns) to Hong Kong police, who have been accused of brutality in dealing with protestors.… Continue Reading

“No one is above the law,” U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said when announcing the start of the impeachment process against President Donald J. Trump.

She should have tempered it with: “unless you’re a Democrat.”

Only a quarter of evangelicals in the United States believe abortion should be illegal in all cases, according to a new poll showing that a majority of self-identified Christians in the U.S. identify as “pro-choice” and less than half of evangelicals identify as “pro-life.”

If I hadn’t watched the clip twice, I wouldn’t have actually believed what I was seeing. CNN anchor Brian Stelter, the man who hosts a program called Reliable Sources no less, stared at me through the camera in the most serious tones he could muster. Discussing the upcoming days in the impeachment inquiry, Stelter motioned noticeably at the screen next to him and cautioned,

“Some people are going to insult your intelligence in the days ahead.”
