Central Illinois GOP Governor Candidate Forum

After two winter storms put the kibosh on our efforts to hold a gubernatorial forum, Illinois Family Action was thrilled to be a sponsor of a forum hosted by the Tazewell County Republican Party in cooperation with the Peoria County Republican Party and the Woodford County Republican Party.

Update: IFA Candidate Forum on March 26th

After two cancelations due to weather advisories we have decided to reschedule our Candidate Forum to March 26th, which is a Saturday evening.

This forum will be for Republican candidates seeking the party’s nomination for U.S. Senate and the office of Governor of the State of Illinois. A panel of three Illinois pastors will be posing questions to the candidates.

Final Election Results

The Illinois State Board of Elections recently released the certified election results.  Here are the numbers:

Governor-elect Bruce Rauner (R) won a slim majority of the total votes and by 142,284 votes over incumbent Patrick Quinn (D).  Voter turnout was 49 percent, and compared to the 2010 gubernatorial election was down two percent, or 112,353 less voters in the 2014 election.

Incumbent Democratic Attorney General Lisa Madigan won decisively with 59 percent of the total vote, beating Republican challenger Paul Schimpf who received little support from the Republican establishment in Illinois.
