SPOTLIGHT: Amy Gehrke of Illinois Right to Life

Written by David E. Smith

Amy Gehrke, Executive Director of Illinois Right to Life, strongly states that “at its heart, Illinois is a pro-life state, that our politicians don’t speak for the will of the people, and, as we say around the Illinois Right to Life office, ‘we firmly believe we can and we will win Illinois for life.’”

On this episode of Spotlight, Amy joins IFI’s David Smith and Monte Larrick to detail the three specific ways Illinois Right to Life is working to change hearts and minds on the issue of abortion.… Continue Reading

SPOTLIGHT: Fetal Rights and the End of Roe

Written by David E. Smith

Could the Fourteenth Amendment, specifically the Equal Protection Clause, be the means by which Roe v. Wade is overturned? Dr. Steve Jacobs, program director of Illinois Right to Life, joins IFI’s Monte Larrick and Jenna Smith to explain why he is confident the U. S. Supreme Court will overturn this landmark decision. Beginning with the question of what “pro-life” really means, Dr. Jacobs discusses his reservations about basing law on states’ rights and shares why he feels the issue of equality ought to be the essence of the pro-life movement.… Continue Reading

SPOTLIGHT: The Ultimate Guardrail For Your Daughters

Written by Jenna Smith

To the great sorrow of pro-life, pro-family citizens of Illinois, on December 17, 2021,  Governor JB Pritzker signed into law House Bill 370, thereby repealing the Parental Notice of Abortion Act and eliminating the right for parents to be made aware of a minor daughter’s pregnancy and impending abortion.

Joining me for an important Spotlight conversation are IFI contributors Kenna Rose and Alyssa. Please listen as we discuss the impact of the repeal of the Parental Notice of Abortion Act and the repercussions of HB 370, the disingenuously named Illinois Youth Health and Safety Act.… Continue Reading

FDA Allows Mail-Order Abortions Across The U.S.

Written by David E. Smith

A “temporary” COVID pandemic regulation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has now been made permanent and allows women across the country to purchase their own chemical abortion kit without ever seeing a doctor. The FDA announced last week that it is lifting the requirement that the first pill (mifepristone) in the two-part abortion drug regimen be dispensed in-person. Now, women nationwide can obtain abortion pills through the mail and then perform their own private abortions at home.… Continue Reading

Pritzker Repeals Parental Rights and Biden Facilitates Mail-Order Abortions

Written by David E. Smith

Over the past few days, we’ve seen a setback in the cause for sanctity of life. In their pursuit of women’s so-called “autonomy,” abortion cheerleaders have successfully secured some dangerous policy victories.

On Friday afternoon, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed into law the euphemistically titled “Youth Health and Safety Act” (HB 370), which repeals the Parental Notice of Abortion Act. By adding his signature to this repeal, Governor Pritzker—and the 94 Democrats who voted for it—usurp parental rights to be involved in major health decisions of their minor daughters by removing the last major abortion restriction in the state of Illinois.… Continue Reading

Rachel Maddow, Libertarian on One Issue

Written by Tim Graham

Rachel Maddow is one of America’s most popular proponents of socialism. Government is never big enough for Maddow. Bernie Sanders has a friend in Maddow. But when the subject is abortion, you will not find a more enthusiastic libertarian.

After the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments on Nov. 30 on Mississippi’s law banning the termination of unborn children after 15 weeks, Maddow championed lawyer Julie Rikelman for the Center for Reproductive Rights for arguing this is “about American women being forced by the government to give birth against their will.”… Continue Reading

Should Legal Abortion Be Killed?

Written by Mike McManus

The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments this week on whether to overturn its Roe v. Wade decision of 48 years ago that legalized abortion.

It is considering a Mississippi law that bans abortions after 15 weeks – well before the established point of fetal “viability” at around 24 weeks. Many pro-life leaders hope the nation’s highest court will use this opportunity to reverse Roe v. Wade to protect unborn children.

SPOTLIGHT: A Conversation With Ann Scheidler About Saving Babies

In the midst of what she describes as “the most exciting time since 1973,” Ann Scheidler, president of Pro-Life Action League and chair of the pro-life coalition known as SpeakOut Illinois , is feeling hopeful. Mrs. Scheidler joins Monte Larrick to discuss the ramifications of Dobbs v. Jackson, a crucial pro-life case that will be heard by the United States Supreme Court on December 1, 2021.

What the Democrats Did is Horrifying … Yet Helpful?

Written by Peter Heck

Amid all the trillion-dollar spending bill talk, it’s been largely overlooked that the Nancy Pelosi-led U.S. House of Representatives passed historic legislation last week – a bill that would permit the intentional killing of all infants in the womb through all 9 months of pregnancy, up to the moment of birth.

It’s truly difficult for me to surmise who would have been more euphoric at the galling news: the Planned Parenthood abortion cabal or Satan himself.… Continue Reading
