Much has been said about the Harrison Butker situation over the course of the last few days, but I wonder if anyone has paused to consider how violative the secular progressive left is right now of their own rules of inclusion and open-mindedness.
A few years ago, I watched a commencement address at a moderately sized public university. The speaker spent nothing short of 25 minutes warning the graduates about the perils of homophobia, transphobia, climate change, and more than a few other buzzwords associated with our state religion.… Continue Reading

On May 11, Kansas City Chiefs placekicker Harrison Butker gave the commencement address at Benedictine College, a Catholic school in Kansas. Within 48 hours, the media elites were ablaze with outrage. There’s a “growing uproar,” warned NBC’s Hoda Kotb.
A Catholic speaker talked about Catholic issues to Catholic graduates. But the Butker critics who aren’t Catholics pulled out little snippets they could not abide.
First, they hated that Butker paid tribute to his wife Isabelle for making him successful, for assuming “one of the most important titles of all: homemaker.”… Continue Reading

Last week, what remains of the United Methodist Church voted to reject the authority of God’s Word on matters of human sexuality and publicly affirm and embrace sin as a tenet of their denomination.
There was nothing particularly surprising about the move. In fact, after having chased all of the God-honoring, Christ-worshipping, Bible-submitting believers out of their group, it was completely expected.
Not the Bee reported on their convention/rainbow circus HERE several days ago when it happened.… Continue Reading

The national media consider themselves essential in educating the electorate, so what happens when the electorate does not consider them a trustworthy guardian of democracy?
The Associated Press and the American Press Institute just released a poll on the 2024 election and found only 14% of their sample expressed “a great deal of confidence in election-related information they receive from national sources.” By contrast, 46% have little or no confidence at all in the information they receive from national news organizations.… Continue Reading

Truth isn’t trendy.
The proclamation of truth isn’t to concern itself with fads.
That’s why I don’t get into pastoral sermon series that focus on Hollywood movies and how they reflect gospel themes. It’s why I don’t understand the desire of believers to immediately promote high-profile converts into positions where they speak on behalf of the church.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m more than elated and hopeful when I see those so entrenched in our godless culture be delivered from it all.… Continue Reading

In the past few weeks, Uri Berliner, a 25-year veteran of NPR, blew the whistle on the state-funded media giant’s pervasive liberal bias. In response, NPR’s new CEO, Katherine Maher, suspended the senior editor without pay for telling the truth about the company. This ultimately led to Mr. Berliner‘s resignation.
NPR’s heavy-handedness in suppressing truthful dissent should surprise no one. Ms. Maher, after all, has been clear in saying that “truth” is not important to her.… Continue Reading

For years, those of us in the media have known that National Public Radio could also be called National People’s Radio.
It’s no secret that tax-subsidized NPR has leaned left since its inception in 1970. But the network had some good reporting and used to keep its most radical elements mostly in check.
Public radio even features discussions pitting conservatives against liberals on various issues. I did some of those when I worked as a cultural policy analyst for the Family Research Council and Concerned Women for America.… Continue Reading

The over-politicization of our culture has ruined so much. Among plenty of other things, our language has been one of the greatest casualties of our 24-hour “news” culture, our obsession over ideological purity and political scandal. Words don’t mean what they used to mean anymore.
People who aren’t bigots are called bigots because it’s easier to call names than make arguments.
Things that aren’t racism are deemed racist because shaming is easier than logically engaging.… Continue Reading

One of the grandest fictions of our leftist media is that somehow, championing “social change” is what makes you a “bona fide news organization.” Anyone who resists that siren song isn’t a professional, but a propagandist. One-sided coverage is great — if you’ve picked the right side.
On Feb. 19, National Public Radio displayed this fiction with an audaciously arrogant story headlined “Poland’s new government deprograms its once far-right public media.” Let’s especially giggle at the word “deprogram.”… Continue Reading

If there were any doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic exposed widespread corruption in America’s health care establishment, a federal lawsuit should put it to rest.
Filed by the attorneys general of Missouri and Louisiana, Murthy v. Missouri accuses the Biden administration of censoring medical views it dislikes.
So, what did the American Medical Association do? The doctors guild lined up with the censors in an amicus brief.
That’s right. It’s their way or the highway, science be damned.… Continue Reading
