CNN’s Hate Group List Smears Some Great Organizations

Written by Tom Gilson

CNN has just published a map and listing of “all the active hate groups where you live.” I’ve got serious problems with lists like this, but apparently CNN doesn’t. It seems to me that if they believe in “hate group” lists, they really ought to include themselves on it.

A list like this one, published days after Charlottesville, is, in theory, meant to warn Americans against groups that might carry similar violence into other cities.… Continue Reading

Church Pastor Refuses to Compromise; His Critics Ignore 2,000-year-old Doctrine

Written by John Biver

“What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun.”
~Ecclesiastes 1:9

A person might be tempted to think that “news stories” contain things that are “new.”

Here is reporter Mike Rowe at WGN news in Chicago:

Demonstrators flocked to one of the South Side’s largest churches Sunday morning after its pastor removed a woman from the congregation because of her same-sex wedding.

SPOTLIGHT: They’re as Good at Math as They are at Biology

Written by Benjamin Smith

In this week’s Spotlight podcast, Monte and Dave talk with IFI lobbyist Ralph Rivera and Special Project Coordinator John Biver about a bill to advance and enable gender confusion in the state of Illinois. Sponsored by State Representative Greg Harris (D-Chicago), HB 1785 would allow gender-dysphoric persons to falsify their birth certificates, which are both legal and historical documents.

This will have consequences with regard to the relentless cultural assault on physical privacy through the sexual integration of previously sex-segregated spaces.… Continue Reading

Why Democrats Are More Unified Than the GOP

By Paul Gottfried

Thanks to at least nine opposing Republican senators, Congress left for its July 4 break without passing a replacement bill for Obamacare.

The opposition from these Republicans was two-fold: Four conservatives thought the GOP bill on the table went too far in retaining government control over the medical insurance market, while five centrist members complained it doesn’t go far enough in providing federal funding for Medicaid in their states, and would leave 22 million Americans overall without medical insurance.Continue Reading

What is Going On at the Federal Department of Education?

Written by Laurie Higgins

Betsy DeVos was a controversial pick to head up the controversial Department of Education. This week conservatives were provided with more reason to find fault with DeVos.

The Washington Post revealed an internal memo sent on June 6, 2017 from Candice Jackson to regional directors of the Department of Education with “instructions” regarding “transgender students.” While acknowledging that President Trump has rescinded the Obama “guidance” that threatened loss of funding to schools if they didn’t sexually integrate restrooms and locker rooms, Jackson reaffirmed that schools should look to Title IX regulations, court decisions, and an Office for Civil Rights “guidance” document for direction.… Continue Reading

The True Bradley ‘Chelsea’ Manning Story is Stranger Than Fiction

Written by Dr. Michael Brown

Imagine this scenario for a moment. You are a budding novelist, and you present a new proposal to your agent. The agent looks it over and sends it back, assuring you no publisher would ever go for it. “It’s just too far-fetched,” you are told. “Best to go back to the drawing board.”

What was the scenario you concocted? It went like this.

The Plot

There was a gay private in the army who gained access to a cachet of nearly one million secret military documents.… Continue Reading

State Rep. Lou Lang’s Foolish Chief of Staff Bert Brooke

Written by Laurie Higgins

Americans, including conservatives, have become desensitized to the reprobate nature of our polity. Our leaders are depraved and the policies and laws they seek to effect reflect their corruption and foolishness. A perfect example of such corruption oozes out of the office of State Representative Lou Lang (D-Skokie). As a co-sponsor of HB 40 that just went down in flames, Lang stands boldly and unashamedly in favor of forcing taxpayers to pay for the killing of human persons in the womb.… Continue Reading

Trump’s School Transgender Policies: Common Sense and Legal

Image result for transgender bathroom

Written by Peter Sprigg

Contrary to almost all the news reporting on this story, the real question addressed by the new administration’s guidance is not (at least not directly), “Which restrooms or locker rooms should students who identify as transgender use?”

Instead, it is something much simpler — “Who gets to decide?”

The answer that President Trump’s administration has now given is also simple: “Not us. Not the federal government.

The two Obama administration documents that have now been rescinded — a 2016 “Dear Colleague” letter to every school district in the country, and a lesser-known “opinion letter” issued January 2015 — asserted a specific interpretation of a specific federal law.
