Death can be extraordinarily beneficial to an ambitious politician. Death creates openings, and openings are opportunities.

The death of Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka creates a tantalizing opening. The question in political circles is, who gets her job, a caretaker or a keeper?

Having been re-elected to her second term on Nov. 4, Topinka’s death on Dec. 10 creates two thorny legal issues — who appoints her successor, and for what duration?… Continue Reading

Reagan conservatives

Written by David Limbaugh

I am concerned that certain Republicans just can’t take yes for an answer. To borrow an old adage, they can’t handle prosperity — with prosperity being defined as the voters rejecting Obama’s agenda (and thereby embracing theirs).

This is partly because of the fact that many grass-roots conservatives mistakenly believe that their only obstacle to moving a conservative agenda forward in Washington is the so-called Republican establishment — GOP centrist politicians and their institutional supporters.… Continue Reading

Hillary Clinton’s status as a wealthy celebrity will make it difficult for her to deploy the populist narrative that helped Democratic nominees win the popular vote in five out of the last six presidential elections. How can a woman who boasts a net worth of at least $21 million and hobnobs almost exclusively with well-heeled financial titans and movie stars, plausibly denounce Republicans as the party of the rapacious rich while portraying Democrats as defenders of the downtrodden?… Continue Reading

POLITICO has run a piece citing various claims that President Obama is a practicing Christian of some sort. Nice try. But the article is entirely unconvincing.

Obama isn’t prevented from going to a Christian church and doesn’t cite security reasons for not attending. Instead, he “worries that his presence detracts from other worshippers’ experience,” the publication said. We are told he reads scripture and prays in private.

In 2008, when he first ran for president, the Obama campaign insisted he was a “committed Christian.”… Continue Reading

Kirk

Of ten Republicans who may lose their U.S. Senate seats in 2016, Sunday The Hill named Illinois’ U.S. Senator Mark Kirk as #1 most likely, with a possibility of four Illinois Democrats  as potential challengers:

1. Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.)

Kirk narrowly defeated a scandal-plagued Democratic candidate by less than 2 points in the 2010 Republican wave election. In the 2016 presidential election year, he will likely face a much more Democratic electorate.

The senator has worked hard to bolster his bipartisan credentials, backing immigration reform, gun control and environmental protections.… Continue Reading

Campaign consultants make bank on advising candidates how to win the independent voting bloc – those who are perceived to be the 20 percent of the electorate in the middle of the spectrum between left and right.

The theory is that the Republican candidate has the 40 percent of the electorate to the right of center locked up, and the Democratic candidate has the 40 percent of the electorate to the left of center locked up, and the issue will be decided by those in the mushy middle.… Continue Reading

I am no longer a Republican. John Boehner, Mitch McConnell and their Democrat-lite, RINO Republican establishment have seen to that. They have betrayed their own constituents. They have actively turned against the American people – the very voters who granted them power to do good.

Even before the gavel has sounded on the Republican-led 114th Congress, these treacherous cowards shamelessly, eagerly, it seems, squandered perhaps the one opportunity they had to stop, in his tracks, America’s first cultural Marxist, anti-American, palpably evil president.… Continue Reading

Ceasar Obama

He never cared what anyone else thought. He was the President after all and if you aren’t with him, then you’re against him.

He came from humble beginnings. Raised by a single mother, he was forced to depend on family members for help throughout the first half of his life; even more so after the death of his mother. He was a dissolute youth, getting in trouble frequently and spending more time partying than sober.

President Barack Obama quietly issued 12 pardons and 8 commutations late Wednesday afternoon, which happened to be one of the busiest news days of the year.

Here are the dozen folks pardoned:

The President granted pardons to the following twelve individuals:

  • Roy Norman Auvil – Bartonville, IL

Offense:  Possession of an unregistered distilling apparatus; working a distillery on which the required sign is not placed (District of South Carolina)

In his final move as majority leader, U.S. Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) ushered through a series of tax breaks that directly benefit residents of his home state of Nevada.

Called tax extenders, the package retroactively renews expired tax breaks, including a state sales tax deduction and the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act.

The U.S. Senate passed the tax bill 76-16 earlier this week—the last legislation it would vote on before the end of the 113th Congress and Reid’s tenure as majority leader.… Continue Reading
