In my last blog post, I discussed the “Culturally Responsive Teaching and Leading Standards” which have been promulgated by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and which will be considered by JCAR at its February meeting. Rather than reinventing the wheel, I’d ask that you take a few moments to read the post to get the full background. I’ve sent a letter to ISBE asking a number of questions about the standards which I’ve asked that they answer prior to our February meeting.

OK, with the “unity” and “healing” rhetoric behind us as we enter the Biden/Harris years, backed by 25,000 troops, we can get back to the business at hand.

That would be the left’s all-out war on free speech, American heritage, limited government, economic freedom, biological truth and Judeo-Christian morality.

Another anniversary of Roe v. Wade has come and gone. And in recent days, the pro-life movement has suffered some serious political setbacks.

Outgoing President Donald Trump was surprisingly pro-life. In contrast, incoming President Joe Biden, although he is a Catholic, has become so pro-abortion that he believes in abortion for any reason up to the very moment of birth—and that you and I should pay for it.

Where do we go from here? Our state is currently suffocating under the weight of massive debt and failed Democratic policies. Yet, former state representative Jeanne Ives says there is hope for Illinois conservatives. She suggests the Republican Party focus on...

President Joe Biden likes to talk about unity and his intent to rise above partisan rancor to heal the divisions that led a pro-Trump mob to swarm the Capitol on Jan. 6. Given his history of cutting deals with Republicans, I believe he wants to work across the aisle.

A dark cloud looms over the United States today — a storm cloud of tyranny. All the rest is noise — a diversion.

If self-congratulatory pats on the back could cause skin damage, Trump haters would have leprosy. Having been on a witch hunt to burn him at the impeachment stake since he took office, they believe they are vindicated forevermore.

A day after the Georgia U.S. Senate runoff handed the left its trifecta — control of both houses of Congress and the White House — the Communist Party USA gave notice that this is merely the latest stage in Sovietizing America.

An editorial on the CPUSA’s website acknowledges that the Democrats’ total control may be temporary, so they had better make hay while they can...

Liberals love to insist they're on the "right side of history," and their confidence crests in the liberal dominance among historians. Just as the liberal media dominate our evaluation of day-to-day developments, liberals count on their historians to dominate our evaluation of the decades behind us.

A hero on the front lines of the abortion war has passed on. Joseph Scheidler, the founder and national director of the Pro-Life Action League, has died at the age of 93. Mr. Scheidler's impact on the battle for the life of unborn generations is incalculable. Besides his personal influence on pastors and other leaders, Mr. Scheidler was a street warrior, a relentlessly active presence at hundreds of protests and demonstrations at Chicago area abortion mills. The fruit of his work is readily visible, and now we eagerly await the multiplication of those fruits after his death (John 12:24-26).

The year 2021 is hardly out of diapers, and the words of the Old Testament prophet echo through our streets:

“Woe to those who draw iniquity with the cords of falsehood … who call evil good and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight …  Woe unto those who take away the rights of the ones who are in the right!”

Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) is no longer the Speaker of the Illinois House. He has been replaced by State Representative Emanuel Chris Welch (D-Winchester). I would withhold the applause or hope that things in Illinois will change.

First, Welch has been a reliable ally of Madigan since Welch was first elected in 2013.

Second, Welch saved Madigan from investigation by an Illinois House panel.

Third, he is responsible for supporting and voting for legislation that has made Illinois the worst run state in the Union.
