The political arena is tough and hardened — cross a line or the wrong people and payback is a proverbial you know what. Or worse.
Dinesh D’Souza paid a steep price for his mistake: D’Souza asked two people to contribute a total of $20,000 to the New York Senate campaign of Wendy Long, and later reimbursed them. He pled guilty and was sentenced to five years probation, eight months in a halfway house, a $30,000 fine, eight hours of community service each week, and therapy on a weekly basis.… Continue Reading

In choosing the next President, character matters more than ideology. An individual of low character and troubled temperament won’t keep campaign promises, no matter how appealing, and won’t be able to work with others to achieve those goals, even if he tried. What’s more, a president with a tendency toward immature emotionalism will be ill-equipped to respond to sudden challenges that aren’t anticipated in campaign platforms.
Unfortunately, both current candidates face big questions about integrity and character and it’s unlikely either one will change in the course of the campaign.… Continue Reading

The most misunderstood and misreported story of the 2016 Republican National Convention is undoubtedly the Monday floor fight over whether or not there would be a roll call vote on the new Rules for the Republican National Committee.
Most of the media, and many if not most Trump delegates, seem convinced that the fight was all about “unbinding” delegates bound to vote for Trump by virtue of his primary vote.… Continue Reading

Millions of Americans may be watching the Republican national convention this week. Some data is finding that this in an election year in which record numbers of voters seem to be interested in deciding who will be our next president. For example, the Republican primary has seen a 62% increase in voter turnout this year over 2012, from 19.2 million votes four years ago to 31 million this year.
This may be why a new study of church engagement has caught pollsters by surprise.… Continue Reading

Isn’t it about time we crusade for self-defense?
I’ll say it again. Political correctness is a barrier to truth and a pathway to tyranny.
It’s also deadly.
As I beheld across my social media feeds Thursday night, the horrific, blood-bathed images of 84-plus slaughtered innocents on the streets of Nice, France (at the hands of yet another Muslim named Mohamed), I was reminded of a quote by the great Winston Churchill: “An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile hoping it will eat him last.”… Continue Reading

Moral anarchy takes many forms.
It can percolate upward, when petty crimes are ignored by the authorities.
This used to happen routinely under progressive leadership in New York City, where litter, graffiti and boorish public behavior signaled the real and present danger of more serious crimes like muggings, murders and rapes.
Beginning with policing minor violations, crime-busting U.S. Attorney Rudolph Giuliani restored order while serving as New York’s mayor from 1994 to 2001.… Continue Reading

If President Barack Obama was hoping to make showers and locker rooms a campaign issue, brand new polling provides more evidence that he succeeded. But not in the way he intended. A WPA Research survey commissioned by Family Research Council Action finds that two thirds (66 percent) of Americans disapprove of “government forcing schools, businesses, and non-profit organizations to open the showers, changing facilities, locker rooms, and bathrooms designated for women and girls, to biological males and vice versa.”… Continue Reading

Against a backdrop of quietly extended military deployments in Afghanistan to preserve a lame-duck legacy, we’re yet again reminded that the rule of law does NOT apply to the ruling class, especially not at Department of State. With journalism hijacked by 24-hour cable news hysteria, fueled by the cheap melodrama of celebrity-anchor idol worship, dedicated news junkies retreat to CSPAN for facts unblemished by “entertainment.”
Two fatally-flawed national candidates literally stumble towards the most powerful elected office in the world, while global jihad assaults the daily routine of Hometown U.S.A. … Continue Reading

It is galling the day after July 4th to be greeted by yet one more official at the highest level of government, who has declined to respect the rule of law in favor of giving a free pass to the Obama Administration.
FBI Director James Comey indicted Hillary Clinton in the court of public opinion by laying out before the TV cameras, step by step, her gross negligence in handling classified material, including Top Secret information that would compromise our national security if made accessible to our enemies.

The lame excuse a sitting attorney general gave for meeting privately with the husband of a prime FBI suspect who was himself a possible target of investigation reveals, if we needed more revelation, the mental vacuity and profound ignorance of leftism. Anyone familiar with the cognitive degradation of Marxism can see the pattern.
When the Bolsheviks first came to power, there were some bright, though of course wicked, minds: Lenin, Bukharin, Trotsky. … Continue Reading
