With our state and nation focused on the pandemic, the new administration in Washington, D.C., and other pressing issues, the subject of gambling has been lost in the shuffle (no pun intended). Thanks in part to the Rebuild Illinois Act of 2019, which unleashed massive gambling expansion in the Land of Lincoln, the gaming industry has been able to thrive due to sports betting and other forms of online gambling – despite COVID-19 lockdowns and protocols – while many small businesses were forced to close up shop forever.… Continue Reading

Given the level of insanity erupting at all levels in America, it wasn’t really a shock when the huge, multinational corporation Unilever announced in early March that it was pulling the word “normal” from at least half of its products.
No more soap for “normal skin care,” or shampoo for “normal hair.” It’s offensive.
A global study by Unilever found that the word “normal” made 56 percent of the respondents feel excluded and that 70 percent felt that using the word on packaging has a negative impact on people.… Continue Reading

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled … sex offenders … yearning to …” Wait … what?
Customs and Border Protection announced yesterday that more than 100,000 illegal aliens were apprehended at the border. That is more than any time in recent history except for the peak months of the 2019 border crisis. And it’s getting worse every day. But what few people have noticed is that it’s not just impoverished illegal aliens coming in.… Continue Reading

It’s tax season again and Caesar wants his cut.
The national debt is approaching $30 trillion, and Congress just added 2 more trillion for more “COVID-19 relief.”
The current bill [just passed] by Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer is composed of massive pork barrel spending and a bail-out for high-tax Democratic states that have mismanaged their finances. Oh, and some more money for COVID-related economic distress on the heels of the earlier $4 trillion, of which $1 trillion has yet to be released.… Continue Reading

This past week while the nation was distracted by Joe Biden’s dementia-ridden incompetence and Andrew Cuomo’s predatory misogyny, The Satanic Temple of Texas filed suit to defend its religious right to engage in child sacrifice as a spiritual ritual.
The Dallas Observer reports as follows.
“[On Feb. 23, 2021] The Satanic Temple [of Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston] filed a lawsuit against the State of Texas alleging certain state-mandated abortion regulations violate the religious liberty of its members … [and] violate the temple’s religious teachings.
