Vice President Kamala Harris spoke before the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) last Thursday. This was her first speech as a presidential candidate, since President Biden ended his campaign and endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee.

Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis are both focusing heavily on education policy in the run-up to the 2024 election, suggesting the issue will take center stage over the next two years. On Nov. 20, just after speaking to the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual leadership conference in Las Vegas, Mike Pompeo was asked what he “viewed as the central issues” for Republicans in 2024.
