Pastors Should Be More Involved in Politics, Not Less

Written by Robert Knight

Before 1954, pastors, priests and rabbis could openly endorse political parties or candidates.

Then came the Johnson Amendment, named for Lyndon Baines Johnson, then an U.S. Senator from Texas who tweaked the IRS code. Suddenly, tax-exempt nonprofits were barred from “participating or intervening in any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office.” The “opposition to” phrase was added in 1986.

A ruthless political strategist before and during his presidency, Johnson engineered this coup after two Texas nonprofit groups had supported his Senate primary opponent.… Continue Reading

Democrats Can’t Seem To Give Up The Transgender Madness

Written by Robert Knight

You may have heard by now that Loudoun County, Virginia, school officials are at it again.

In May 2021, they covered up a girl’s rape in a high school restroom by a boy wearing a skirt and sent him to another high school, where he assaulted another girl.

The first girl’s dad was thrown to the floor, handcuffed and arrested when he refused to shut up about it at a school board meeting.… Continue Reading

Divisive Transgender Sleeper Issue May Cost Democrats Votes

Written by Robert Knight

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz has doubled down on his extremist agenda for LGBTQ youth.

The man who, as a teacher, launched a gay-straight alliance group in his school went on to use his power as governor of Minnesota to push the transgender agenda in full force.

He issued an executive order last year and signed a law making Minnesota what the measure’s supporters call a “trans refuge state.”

Critics rightly interpreted this as an anti-parent bill aimed at bringing in minors from other states who request puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgery.… Continue Reading

SCOTUS Missed Opportunity to Uphold Freedom of Speech

Written by Robert Knight

The U.S. Supreme Court works in strange and mysterious ways.

It can enrage the progressive left with a solidly constitutional ruling like Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (2022), which overturned Roe v. Wade and sent the issue of abortion to the states.

But it can also amaze and frustrate conservatives, as when it refused before and after the 2020 election to review Pennsylvania officials’ unconstitutional changes to election procedures.

“We failed to settle this dispute before the election and thus provide clear rules.… Continue Reading

The Left’s War On The American Dream

Written by Robert Knight

One of the most chilling scenes in the anti-communist 1965 film “Dr. Zhivago” shows the doctor returning to his Moscow home after forced duty in the Red Army.

The Bolsheviks overthrew the czar and took power in Russia in the October Revolution of 1917.

As his wife, Tonya, gives him a hug and a silent warning, Yuri looks around and sees dozens of people unrelated to him. What was once the Zhivagos’ home — a large, magnificent house — is now a sordid commune crammed with state-sponsored squatters.… Continue Reading

LGBTQ Movement Working to Transform Society in its Own Image

Written by Robert Knight

Some things are wrong regardless of intent or a claimed level of authority. If laws conflict with the ultimate authority — God — they are invalid, as the great British legal scholar Blackstone (and later, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.) observed.

In most situations, parents have the God-given right to direct their children’s upbringing. But there are limits to that authority, such as evidence of child abuse.

Exhibit A is the lawsuit by parents, doctors and lawyers who are trying to get the U.S.… Continue Reading

The ACLU’s After-School Satanic Agenda

Written by Robert Knight

We’re living in a time of moral confusion.

Or moral cowardice. Or fatal indifference. Or all three.

How else to explain the inability to draw any meaningful distinction between an after-school Good News Club for children that imparts the love of Jesus and an After School Satan Club?

In Pennsylvania, the Saucon Valley School District tried but failed. They held off the Satan Club (motto: “Educatin’ with Satan!”) for a while until the absurdities of our morally relativistic legal system caught up with them.… Continue Reading

Pushback Against ‘Woke’ Agenda Happening Around The World

Written by Robert Knight

Don’t look now, but the resistance to woke tyranny is rising rapidly, and not just in the United States.

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon resigned on Wednesday after eight years in office. A leftist and climate change extremist, she opposed Brexit while leading the fight for Scottish independence from Britain.

During her tenure, according to the Daily Mail, Scottish life expectancy plunged, drug deaths doubled, alcohol deaths increased, schools continued failing, and Scots were worse off economically than when she took office.… Continue Reading

The Southern Poverty Law Center Hate Hoax

Written by Andrew Harrod

Former Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) “staffers have admitted that the hate accusations leveled by the SPLC are a ‘con,’ a deceptive scheme to raise money,” writes PJ Media Senior Editor Tyler O’Neil. In his new bookMaking Hate Pay: The Corruption of the Southern Poverty Law Center, O’Neil shreds the SPLC’s claims to be an impartial “hate arbiter” and exposes the SPLC as a corrupt, leftist smear merchant.… Continue Reading

Fake Justice and the Rise of a New Religion

Written by Robert Knight

Post-modern progressives, contrary to popular belief, are not irreligious. They worship at the altar of government power, lifting the chalice of “diversity” and eating the bread of “tolerance.”

Under their arms they carry certain portions of the U.S. Constitution, plus copies of court rulings that are considered sacred and “settled” – but only if they advance progressive notions of progress. All others are open to revision.

For example, progressives have pledged to overturn the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United ruling that recognizes the individual right to collective political speech in unions and nonprofits.… Continue Reading
