Today we are in the midst of a cultural crisis where it seems that the one thing the left and the right can agree on is that our nation no longer enjoys a binding “cult” of ideological unity, common cause, common sense, i.e. sense that is common. Pundits and politicians across the nation write off our state as dark blue, a bastion of leftist thought and policy. Conservative presidential candidates often bypass Illinois, also assuming it’s a lost cause and a Democrat stronghold. Likewise, regressive candidates frequently skip the state assuming it’s automatically in the D column. But in truth, Illinois has tens of thousands of good conservative people. The percentage of conservative voters (thinkers) grow exponentially the further one travels farther away from Chicago and Crook County.
