On June 1, President Donald Trump announced the United States is pulling out of the Paris climate accord. While environmental scientists say the consequences could be catastrophic for the planet, many religious Americans are taking the news in stride. Indeed, the deafening silence of many people following Trump’s decision bespeaks skepticism of man-made global warming as well as the government’s ability to address the issue.
The heated rhetoric, both in favor of and in opposition to such international treaties as the Paris Agreement, is but a byproduct of the politicization of the environmental movement.… Continue Reading

Nature Climate Change is a monthly magazine that is devoted to supporting the idea that we face a man-caused climate disaster that will surface at some future date. The magazine presents itself as if it is a scientific journal. But scientific journals, real scientific journals, don’t fill their pages with advocacy for a single point of view.
The April 2017 issue of Nature Climate Change carries a commentary: The food-energy-water nexus and urban complexity.… Continue Reading

Crank up the hysteria machine, as President Trump is continuing his War on Science™ at the Environmental Protection Agency.
According to a story at the New York Times, the administration has removed five scientists from a review board, opening up the possibility of replacing them with representatives from various industries, which would fit into the President’s promises to reduce the regulatory grip of the department on the market:
A spokesman for the E.P.A.

Dr. E. Calvin Beisner, the founder and national spokesman of the Cornwall Alliance, discusses the misinformation being spread by climate change alarmists in this week’s podcast. Even Pope Francis has weighed in, imploring world leaders to implement global environmental pacts to combat human-caused global warming. Dr. Beisner explains why these misguided efforts to supposedly safeguard the future of the planet actually hurt the poor and the needy of the world.… Continue Reading

Madness. Last week came March for Science spokesmodel Bill Nye and his perversions passing for “science.” Now comes shifty George Soros with his tens of millions injected into the populace to stir up heated feelings of “science.”
We resist, they say. We build, they claim. We rise, they threaten.
These declarations are from the homepage of the People’s Climate March, as brave and as forthright as any communist slogan.… Continue Reading

It was a breath of fresh air to read Jeff Jacoby’s column on Environmental Protection Agency director Scott Pruitt’s remarks about carbon dioxide, a tiny component of our atmosphere without which life on earth could not exist (“Climate science far from settled,” Opinion, March 15).
As a lifelong ecologist and environmentalist, I have seen much of the environmental movement hijacked for the purpose of alarming us about the future of the climate.… Continue Reading

The Democrats are devastated by their recent lost elections. They will be even more devastated as we learn the details of their massive global warming fraud.
Dr. John Bates, a former high level NOAA scientist, set off a furor by revealing that a recent NOAA paper, which claimed global warming hadn’t “paused” during the past 20 years, was fraudulent. The paper was timed to undergird President Barack Obama’s signing of the hugely expensive Paris climate agreement.… Continue Reading

Former Vice President turned Savior of the Planet Al Gore once declared that “the science is settled.
Well, maybe not. Here’s what we know — and don’t know.
The temperature on Planet Earth went up, then it stopped going up. Or at least we thought we knew that, until the journal “Science” ran a blockbuster report based on a scientific paper titled: “Possible Artifacts Of Data Biases In The Recent Global Surface Warming Hiatus.”

Okay, so most of the time here at the Cornwall Alliance we try to keep our language entirely civil, to avoid both formal and informal fallacies, and just stick to true premises and valid inferences to support our conclusions. Rational, yes. Entertaining? Well, not always. And in today’s America, lots of people—at least if their conduct reveals anything about their values—value entertainment a good deal more than reason.
So for their enjoyment—and for the enjoyment of those who really do track with us on rationality but nonetheless get a kick out of entertainment from time to time—I offer you a few tastes of Julie Kelly’s delightfully snarky column from The Hill January 6, “The hypocrisy of climate change advocates”:
So according to all the hysterical people, President-elect Donald Trump has appointed the most climate denier cabinet ever.

When President-elect Donald J. Trump nominated Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt for Environmental Protection Agency Administrator December 8, environmentalists went ballistic.
They called it “a win for polluters and a loss for the American public,” said “Every American should be appalled,” likened it to “the fox guarding the henhouse,” and called Pruitt a “puppet of the fossil fuel industry.”
E&E News reported, “Environmentalists are preparing for war” and quoted Center for Biological Diversity attorney Bill Snape: “We suspected it would be bad, and it’s bad.… Continue Reading
