The above (slightly altered) title, which was added to a recent post after I wrote it, is too good to use only once. Conservative Christians are needed — and it is a rescue mission.
Is Illinois too far gone? Too many big problems that can’t be solved?
No and no. As bad as things are, Illinois can be saved. This state has many advantages — from it’s Midwestern location to its transportation systems, its natural resources, its number of great communities, businesses, churches and people.… Continue Reading

Traditionally in America, representatives and senators carry out the will of the people in our nation’s capital. Sadly, this is not the case in the modern political era. Many of today’s politicians are more concerned with their own interests rather than the interests of our country.
Mitch McConnell has been in the news recently for the fact that little good is getting done in the U.S. Senate under his leadership. Here are a few examples of this lack of progress.… Continue Reading

Even though the primary election isn’t until March 20, 2018, it isn’t too early to begin considering serving as an Election Judge or a Poll Watcher. Both positions, created by state statute, play an important role in insuring that our elections are conducted according to law.
Since Illinois is a state famous for registered voters residing in cemeteries who vote for Democratic Party candidates, preventing voter fraud is one of the most important tasks for the Judges and Poll Watcher.… Continue Reading

Illinois Family Institute recently teamed up with Restore Our Constitution to host a special event with historian David Barton in Decatur. Mr. Barton is the founder and president of Wall Builders, and an author of a number of best selling books.
David Barton touched on a number of topics in his presentation, including the Left’s efforts to abolish the Electoral College and elect a president by a national popular vote. Barton stressed the need to understand the intention of the Founding Fathers when they created the Electoral College.… Continue Reading

Usually when a legislator holds the top leadership post in their General Assembly caucus, reelection in their district is all but guaranteed. These are not usual times. The mood of the nation and the mood of Republican and independent voters in Illinois has changed.
State House Minority Leader Jim Durkin (R-Burr Ridge) will be facing a probably-well-funded challenger in next March’s primary.
IFI and IFA readers have seen his name previously on these pages.… Continue Reading

It all started with “sanctuary cities.” Back in September, thanks to Republican in Name Only, Governor Bruce Rauner, Illinois became a “sanctuary state.” In this, Rauner is on the same page as Chicago’s Leftist mayor: state and local law enforcement are now prevented from making an arrest based solely on immigration status.
The Democratic Party’s goal of importing more future Democratic Party voters from other countries took yet another step forward when a federal judge ruled that the country is a “sanctuary nation.”… Continue Reading

Why the collective liberal media yawn on the multi-headed Democratic scandals surfacing everywhere except on their pages and airwaves?
It’s not that the stories are too far-fetched and thin to interest self-respecting journalists, because they are real, damning and supported by sufficiently credible evidence to warrant serious attention and scrutiny.
There are the notorious Trump dossier, the Clinton-infected uranium bribery scandal and the prematurely drafted FBI memo to exonerate the most recently defeated United States presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, who, by the way, is still acting like a heat-seeking missile in search of just one plausible excuse for her loss.… Continue Reading

As conservative Christians continue to push for religious freedom protections in the wake of the 2015 U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized same-sex marriage, there might be lessons religious freedom advocates can take away from the successes of the pro-life movement.
Two pro-life leaders and a religious liberty scholar participated in a panel discussion on Saturday titled “What the Religious Liberty Movement Can Learn From the Victories of the Pro-Life Movement” at the Family Research Council’s Values Voters Summit.… Continue Reading

It is becoming increasingly difficult for those in positions of responsibility — such as leaders in the U.S. Army, the FBI, or in the dominant media — to ignore the facts about the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
Conservative organizations and individuals victimized by the SPLC’s “hate map” have been getting aggressive in getting out the truth. Any media outlet that claims it is unaware of the fact that the SPLC labels anyone they disagree with as a “hate group” is either lying or incredibly uninformed.… Continue Reading
