It is gratifying to see federal agencies finally working with resolve to secure our highways. By targeting widespread fraud in the commercial trucking industry—specifically illicit testing schemes and unqualified foreign drivers—the administration is taking long-overdue action to protect American lives.
A primary concern for many citizens is the lack of English proficiency among commercial operators. Language is not merely a formality; it is a safety necessity. Drivers must be able to converse with the public, read highway signs, and respond to official inquiries.
