How Christians & Other Groups Voted in 2014 Midterm Elections

Mark Silk of Religion News reports that according to exit polls America’s various religious groups voted almost the same in the 2014 midterm elections as they did in the last midterm election in 2010, and not much different from the 2012 presidential election.

CHRISTIANS

• Protestants voted Republican 60%-38% in 2014 (59-38 in 2010; 57-42 in 2012)
• Catholics voted Republican 53%-45% in 2014 (54-44 in 2010; for Democrats 50-48 in 2012)
• Regular church attenders (once a week or more) voted Republican 58%-41% in 2014 (58-40 in 2010, 59-39 in 2012)

NO RELIGION (Atheists & Agnostics)

• “No religion” voted Democratic 69%-29% in 2014 (68-30 in 2010)

The American people sent an unmistakable message to Washington, D.C.: Voters expect Republicans in Congress to listen and fight for the conservative agenda they ran on.

• Every single newly elected Republican Senator ran on the full repeal of Obamacare. In most competitive races it was the top issue. Why I.D. for Travel or Guns, But Not for Voting?

If it’s somehow racist and discriminatory to require identification as a condition for voting, then how is it any less discriminatory to impose similar conditions for air travel, mortgages, receiving or cashing government checks, or purchasing guns?

Voting is a crucial right—but so is the ability to purchase property or to keep and bear arms. Illegal Voters May Decide Fate of U.S. Senate

Control of the U.S. Senate is up for grabs on November 4, and illegal voters may tip the balance. Estimates are that more than 14 percent of non-citizens were registered to vote in the elections of 2008 and 2010, and that could now easily exceed the margin of victory in many tight Senate races.
