This special episode of Spotlight features IFI’s David Smith and Monte Larrick as they break down the results of the 2024 election.
Specifically, they will focus on Trump’s policy changes and the state of Illinois– Governor Pritzker’s promise to make Illinois “Trump proof” and how Christians can stay encouraged while living in a very blue state.

In case you missed it, the week of September 22nd was announced as Banned Books Week according to the American Library Association (ALA). The ALA wants the public to believe that raising concerns about obscene material in children’s books is the same as Nazi book banning.

We’re in the final days of the election season now.
Maybe you’ve already voted. Maybe you’re still trying to decide. Regardless of anything I or anyone else writes to sway you one way or another, I pray God gives you the wisdom to honor Him in good conscience with your ballot. Walk before Him in righteousness.
Yet, I do think that He often uses other human voices to help guide us into wisdom, and I hope I’m able to contribute a little truth here and there to that end.… Continue Reading

Though some foolish, uniformed, and lazy voices would claim otherwise, there is little to no moral equivalency between the platforms and positions of the left and the right.
The Democrats and the Republicans are at odds with one another on a number of vital issues.
The Democrats are a proud, death-cult political party that celebrates what God hates.
As Dr. Andrew Walker notes, the Democratic platform, written by their key leaders, is the most radical platform in U.S.… Continue Reading

A Christian brother recently told me that he was originally planning not to vote in this presidential election. He obviously wasn’t going to vote for Kamala, and given Trump’s support for abortion pill access, he couldn’t bring himself to vote for Trump either.
Abortion is so morally repugnant that he couldn’t see himself supporting a candidate who supported access to even the pills. For him, abortion was a reason to not vote in this election.… Continue Reading

As I mentioned in a recent article, Kamala’s appeal comes from portraying herself as a more normal, mainstream, and civil choice than Trump. As she remarked to one audience,
“a lot of what I think is happening . . . is that people are exhausted about the division and the attempts to kind of divide us as Americans.”
And, when running against someone as idiosyncratic as Trump, it’s an obvious—and pretty smart—marketing choice.… Continue Reading

Praise God that Jesus is still on the throne! But let us not lose sight of the mission He has given us to be salt and light in a darkening and decaying nation!
According to a recent study as many as 41 million (!) born-again Christians may not vote in this upcoming election. A leading reason for their decision to sit out and not exercising their God-given and blessed right of voting: apathy.… Continue Reading

Is it a Christian’s duty to vote?
According to research conducted by Barna, 41 million professing Christians and 32 million mainline Christians are not planning on voting in the upcoming general election.
In this episode of Illinois Family Spotlight, Monte Larrick sits down with David Smith, Executive Director of Illinois Family Institute and Illinois Family Action, to discuss the results of this research study.
“Romans 13 tells us that all authority is ordained by God… Who is the authority in America?
