Staggering Corruption in the Obama Administration

Written by Laurie Higgins

On Wednesday, declassified documents reveal that 39 government officials during Obama’s reign of corruption requested the “unmasking” of General Michael Flynn between November 8, 2016-January 31, 2017–only 16 of whom were “authorized” to make such requests. Among the 39 are 8 notable Obama minions: Vice President Joe Biden (1 request), CIA Director John Brennan (2 requests), Director for National Intelligence James Clapper (3 requests), FBI Director James Comey (1 request), Treasury Secretary Jack Lew (2 requests), Chief-of-Staff Denis McDonough (1 request) and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power (7 requests). Following Flynn’s unmasking, someone leaked to the Washington Post that Flynn had had a conversation with Russian Ambassador Kislyak, which laid the groundwork for the Trump-Russia collusion hoax that gobbled up millions of taxpayer dollars.

Golly gee, I wonder if former president and afficionado of Chicago-style politics Barack Obama knew anything about this.

While this House of Cards teeters precariously on its shaky foundation, let’s discuss some of its shady components of which many Americans remain unaware. But first some preliminary information that, it is hoped, will simplify and make this complex story of corruption at the highest level of government comprehensible.

To protect the United States, the National Security Agency (NSA) continually monitors foreign communications via Section 702 of the Foreign Surveillance Intelligence Act (FISA). Since American citizens are often communicating with foreigners, their communications can be “swept up” in NSA eavesdropping.  If or when the NSA shares such intelligence with government agencies or personnel, the identities of American citizens “incidentally” swept up are concealed. Government entities can request those identities be revealed (i.e., “unmasked”) but only for specific purposes–not just for fishing expeditions.

Once an American’s identity is revealed via one of these requests, it is illegal to share that information with any unauthorized recipients. In other words, it was illegal for anyone to leak General Flynn’s name to the Washington Post after his legitimate conversation with Russian Ambassador Kislyak was incidentally swept up. Further, requesting an “unmasking” for political purposes is illegal as well.

Timeline that merges the last presidential campaign season and NSA security breaches:

  • March 2, 2016: Donald Trump won seven states (VT, AR, VA, GA, AL, TN, MA).
  • March 5, 2016: Trump won two more states (KY, LA).
  • March 8, 2016: Trump won three more states (MI, MS, HI).
  • March 9, 2016: “[O]versight personnel doing a review of FBI system access were alerted to thousands of unauthorized search queries of specific U.S. persons within the NSA database. NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers was made aware. … Rogers initiated a full compliance review of the system to identify who was doing the searches; & what searches were being conducted.” (emphasis added)
  • April 18, 2016: “[F]ollowing the preliminary audit results, Director Rogers shut down all FBI contractor access to the database.” This audit “found violations in ‘approximately eighty-five percent’ of Section 702 searches from November 1, 2015, to May 1, 2016.”
  • April 19, 2016: “Fusion-GPS founder Glenn Simpson’s wife, Mary Jacoby visits the White House. Immediately thereafter, the DNC and Clinton campaign contract Fusion GPS… who then hired Christopher Steele.” Now that the Obama minions no longer had illegal access to NSA intelligence to use to thwart the Trump campaign/help the Hillary campaign, they needed another way to do it.
  • September 26, 2016: Assistant Attorney General and National Security Division (NSD) Head John Carlin—who had previously served as chief of staff to then-FBI Director Robert S. Mueller—filed the Obama administration’s proposed 2016 Section 702 certifications. Carlin knew of Rogers’ review because the NSD was part of the review.
  • September 27, 2016: John Carlin resigned.
  • Mid-October 2016: Director of National Intelligence James Clapper urged Obama to remove Rogers from his position.
  • October 21, 2016: “(a month before the November presidential election), the CIA and the FBI, using the now discredited information in the so-called Steele Dossier [see April 19 above], were able to get the FISA Court to authorize electronic surveillance of Carter Page.”
  • November 17th, 2016: “NSA Director Mike Rogers traveled to New York and met with President-Elect Donald Trump.”
  • November 18, 2016: Trump moved his transition team from Trump Tower in NYC  to Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster,  New Jersey.

Some may be wondering who the “FBI contractors” might be. The Conservative Treehouse offers some possibilities:

Essentially anyone the FBI or intelligence apparatus was using could have participated. Crowdstrike was a known FBI contractor; they were also contracted by the DNC. Shawn Henry was the former head of the FBI office in DC and is now the President of Crowdstrike Services; a rather dubious contractor for the government and a politically connected data security and forensic company. James Comey’s special friend Daniel Richman was an unpaid FBI “special employee” with security access to the database. Nellie Ohr began working for Fusion-GPS on the Trump project in November 2015 and she was a CIA contractor; and it’s entirely likely Glenn Simpson or people within his Fusion-GPS network were also contractors for the intelligence community.

So, what is the connection between the unauthorized search queries of specific U.S. persons, the 2016 presidential campaign, and the frenetic requests by Obama minions for the unmasking of Flynn? Here’s a plausible scenario suggested by the Conservative Treehouse:

As FISA Judge Rosemary Collyer later wrote in her report, “many of these non-compliant queries involved the use of the same identifiers over different date ranges.” Put another way: attributes belonging to a specific individual(s) were being targeted and queried, unlawfully. Given what was later discovered, it seems obvious the primary search target, over multiple date ranges, was Donald Trump.

It appears that the corrupt Obama Administration with all those corrupt stooges like Mo Brennan, Larry Clapper, and Curly Comey were abusing the FISA Court to illegally access any information on anyone connected to Trump that they could twist into a phantasmagorical appearance of corruption, which then they would leak to their minionettes in the mainstream press in order to undermine his presidency.

In other words, they wanted to create the illusion that the Trump administration is as corrupt as Obama’s, in reality, was.

Americans already know how corrupt Obama’s Department of Justice was with first Eric Holder, whose controversies included the Black Panther voter intimidation scandal, lying under oath about Operation Fast and Furious, and the IRS’s many sins, and then with Loretta Lynch, who secretly met with Bill Clinton in the midst of Hillary Clinton’s email scandal. And who can forget the Obama administration’s spying on journalists James Rosen and Sheryl Attkisson.

Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell were right when they repeatedly claimed that “Evidence is hiding in plain sight.” It’s just not evidence of a Trump-Russia collusion. It’s evidence of the Obama/DOJ/FBI/IRS/DNC/Clinton campaign/Fusion GPS collusion obscured by a complex thicket of details and technical documents.

No wonder Trump has been angry at our allegedly ethically upright government agencies.

No wonder a panicked Obama began thrashing slippery herrings around last weekend: “Don’t look at any declassified documents! Look here, look here, look at how horribly Trump is handling the pandemic!”

And no wonder Robert Mueller’s performance before the U.S. House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees about the Trump-Russia investigation was so hang-dog. If he had a morsel of integrity left after spending a year learning the truth behind the lies, that congressional hearing must have been torture.

And this is why huge bureaucracies are so dangerous. The deep state of unelected bureaucrats can hide their nefarious doings in plain sight.

Oh, what tangled webs the Obama administration did weave. Thankfully, those webs are being untangled before the 2020 election. The unsung hero in Obamagate is Admiral Mike Rogers who, at great professional risk, not only shut down access to the NSA database by Obama’s henchpersons who were determined to use our intelligence apparatuses to take down a presidency but also apparently warned the president about the quislings in his midst. Yes, we still have heroes.
