On Labor Day, the traditional start of fall election campaigns, Real Clear Politics gave Kamala Harris a lead of 1.8 points in the national polls. On the same date in 2020, Joe Biden had a 7.2 point lead. On the same date in 2016, Hillary Clinton had a 4.1 point lead.
