Obama Democrats Take a Page from Watergate Playbook

The toxic sludge oozing throughout the Obama Administration, his Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Democrat allies in Congress is seeping out, enabling Americans to see more clearly that the unhinged efforts to unseat President Trump were taken straight out of Richard Nixon’s Watergate playbook.

In an effort to be re-elected, Nixon’s campaign attempted to illegally wiretap and burgle the Democratic National Committee’s headquarters and then engaged in a complex cover-up in which Nixon tried to involve the CIA, FBI, and DOJ. Additionally, the Watergate investigations revealed that Nixon had used the IRS to harm political opponents. The Washington Post reported that,

In a recorded conversation in the Oval Office on May 13, 1971, Richard M. Nixon laid out for his aides the job qualifications for the next commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service. “I want to be sure he is a ruthless son of a bitch, that he will do what he’s told, that every income tax return I want to see I see, that he will go after our enemies and not go after our friends.

Sound familiar? Remember Lois Lerner, the former head of the IRS under Obama who targeted conservative organizations in an effort to deny them tax-exempt status?

Just last week, through the release of previously classified testimony before a House Intelligence Committee investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government to throw the election, Americans received yet more confirmation of the carefully orchestrated efforts from the Obama White House on down the ladder of power to damage the Trump presidency—efforts that started before Trump’s inauguration. The saga is obscured by weeds so thick it’s difficult to thrash our way through, but with the 2020 election looming, it’s critically important to understand at least the skeletal details.

Cast of characters

The stars of this nefarious house of cards include the uber-slick Barack Obama; the hapless presidential hopeful, touchy-feely Joe “Btfsplk” Biden; Susan Rice; James “Francis Underwood” Comey, James Clapper; Andrew McCabe; Peter Strozk; his paramour Lisa Page; Bill Priestap; and the unctuous Adam Schiff.

Minor characters in the plot include a host too numerous to list of credulous, partisan water-carriers who identify as journalists at the Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, and MSNBC. Leftist “journalists” provided the fertile ground into which corrupt leftists in the government could confidently plant their seeds of destruction.

Plot outline

Obama and his henchpersons in the DOJ, FBI, and Congress used the wild and unsubstantiated Steele Dossier/Russian disinformation that was bought and paid for by the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign as well as a legitimate phone conversation between incoming National Security Advisor General Michael Flynn and Russia’s ambassador to the United States to try to discredit and unseat via impeachment a duly elected president of the United States through the fabrication of the lie that Trump’s campaign colluded with the Russian government. The plot also necessitated getting rid of Flynn and then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions, both of whom had the knowledge and expertise to uncover the plot, and the courage and integrity to expose it.

In the service of getting rid of Trump, Federal Intelligence Surveillance (FISA) Court procedures were violated; employees (Bill Priestap, Peter Strozk) of powerful government agencies plotted to spy on, entrap, and conceal exculpatory evidence from Americans, including violating standard interrogation protocols (James Comey); officials lied under oath (Andrew McCabe); the careers, reputations, and finances of innocent people were destroyed; cherry-picked portions of classified documents were repeatedly and anonymously leaked to leftist journalists who didn’t properly investigate them; Democrat members of Congress and former FBI employees (James Clapper, Evelyn Farkas) testified under oath that there was no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government and then appeared in the press saying there was such evidence.

Adam Schiff (D-CA), Eric Swalwell (D-CA), Joaquin Castro (D-TX), Denny Heck (D-WA), and Mike Quigley (D-IL), all members of the House Intelligence Committee that heard sworn testimony from James Clapper and Evelyn Farkas in 2017, still made press appearances in 2018 and 2019 to say that “evidence of collusion was hiding in plain sight.”

And what is the leftist press obsessed about? They’re seething with red-herring rage that the unjust charges against General Flynn have been dropped. In yet another convenient leak of a “private converstaion,” Obama reportedly faux-fretted that the “the rule of law is at risk” because the Justice Department has dropped charges against a U.S. general who lied to the FBI during their entrapment scheme saying,

There is no precedent that anybody can find for somebody who has been charged with perjury just getting off scot-free.

Apparently, Obama forgot that he pardoned a U.S. general who had pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. And I guess he forgot that former president and alleged rapist Bill Clinton got off scot-free after lying under oath.

The epithet “sociopath” is hurled with too careless abandon in political discourse today, including in the direction of Schiff who lies with equally careless abandon. So, how should we describe people like Barack Obama, Joe Biden, James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Adam Schiff, James Clapper, Susan Rice, Peter Strozk, and Lisa Page, all of whom either orchestrated or knew about the orchestration of a plot that included the destruction of the lives of innocent people to achieve a political goal?

The Watergate scandal differed from the Russia Collusion/Trump Impeachment scandal in that with Watergate, the FBI, CIA, and DOJ didn’t join forces with Nixon, and the mainstream press did their job and investigated. Maybe those government agencies and the press didn’t collude with the corrupt president because they had more integrity than today’s government agencies and press, or maybe they didn’t collude with Nixon because the corruption was being perpetrated by a Republican.
