Buttigieg’s Shameful Political Exploitation of a Child

Written by Laurie Higgins

As if we didn’t already know Pete Buttigieg is a noxious presence in American culture, he made it clear at a rally in Aurora, Colorado on Saturday during a Q & A time. Ignorant Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold announced melodramatically, “This is a really touching question,” and then read the following pre-submitted question to Buttigieg from 9-year-old boy Zachary Ro of Lone Tree, CO:

Would you help me tell the world I’m gay too? I want to be brave like you.

In a repugnant display of self-serving political exploitation masquerading as compassion, the Buttigieg campaign whisked Zachary (with his mom and dad scurrying along close behind) onstage to the cheers and idiotic “LOVE IS LOVE” chants from the sick crowd in the Romanesque coliseum, whereupon Buttigieg delivered this booster speech on bravery in the service of affirming sin:

Well, I don’t think you need a lot of advice from me on bravery. You seem pretty strong. It took me a long time to figure out how to tell even my best friend that I was gay let alone to go out there and tell the world. To see you willing to come to terms with who you are in a room full of a thousand people, thousands of people you’ve never met, that’s really something.

So, let me tell you a couple things that might be useful. The first thing is that it won’t always be easy, but that’s OK because you know who you are. And that’s really important because when you know who you are, you have a center of gravity that can hold you together when all kinds of chaos is happening around you.

The second thing I want you to know is that you’ll never know who’s taking their lead from you, who’s watching you and deciding that they can be a little braver because you have been brave.

When I was trying to figure out who I was, I was afraid that who I was might mean that I could never make a difference, and what wound up happening instead is it’s a huge part of the difference I get to make. I never could have seen that coming, and you’ll never know whose life you might be affecting right now just by standing here. There’s a lot of power in that.

The last thing I want you to know is that even if I can’t promise it’s going to be easy, I’m going to promise that I’m going to be rooting for you.

At the end of Buttigieg’s booster speech, his fake-husband “Chasten” pounced joyfully onto the stage to tell Zachary how “incredible” his public coming out was and escort him back to his parents.

By his own admission, a huge part of what Buttigieg is doing is convincing children that homoerotic acts are moral acts. Worse still, he’s telling children the lie that God approves of homoerotic acts.

Yeah, “it’s really something,” all right for a 9-year-old boy to announce to thousands of strangers that he is romantically and erotically attracted to males. And it was “really something” to see the deer-caught-in-headlights look on Zachary’s face as the hyenas cackled their enthusiastic pleasure at a young boy announcing his homoerotic attractions.

No 9-year-old boy can know with certainty that he’s romantically and erotically attracted to males or that he wants to embrace a homoerotic identity except a boy who has been ideologically groomed. And ideological grooming is what government schools are doing with fanatical zeal from kindergarten through college.

A 9-year-old boy can know that he really likes being with boys his own age, but it’s our perverse world that provides a distorted lens through which pre-pubertal children are misinterpreting natural and good same-sex affinities as romantic and erotic desires.

The “LOVE IS LOVE” slogan is not only idiotic, it’s also dangerous. It’s idiotic because not all types of love are identical. It’s dangerous because, if accepted, it would erase the boundaries that separate relationships in which sexual or erotic acts are appropriate from ones in which sexual or erotic acts are profoundly wrong.

The implicit claim in the deceitful “LOVE IS LOVE” slogan is that erotic acts between persons of the same sex are morally equivalent to heterosexual acts, which is an arguable moral assumption—not a fact—and as such, it shouldn’t be taught in government subsidized schools.

Like so many children, young Zachary has had his innocence stolen by “progressives” who have introduced him to ideas no 9-year-old should know. After being hailed and cheered by a perverse and foolish adult audience and presidential candidate as brave for announcing he is romantically and erotically attracted to boys, the likelihood of Zachary Ro one day rejecting a homo identity diminished significantly.

Adults both teach and serve as role models for children. Buttigieg is a shameful teacher and role model. Buttigieg—the self-identifying Christian—should be ashamed of what he said to Zachary, but since Buttigieg does “not see fit to acknowledge God, God” has given him “up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.”

“It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck
and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin” (Luke 17:2).
