How Our Republic Is Destroyed

The DSA’s Platform Walks Us Through, Brick by Brick

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has officially released an updated platform titled Workers Deserve More!, published through its official magazine, Democratic Left. Describing it as a vision for a “comprehensively democratic society,” the platform seeks to unite the organization’s rank-and-file membership and elected officials around a single political program.

As expected, the DSA platform upholds the “right” to kill preborn babies in the womb (abortion) by calling for universal healthcare and “reproductive care.” It also endorses what it calls the “right” to gender-affirming care for individuals who think they are “transgender” or “nonbinary.”

The platform also calls for the decriminalization of prostitution (described as “sex work”) as well as the possession and use of illegal drugs.

In addition, the DSA platform includes a “Free Palestine” plank that recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine, calls for an immediate end to all U.S. military and economic aid to Israel, and endorses the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel, the Middle East’s only democracy.

These positions represent only a snapshot of the DSA’s broader agenda. Many observers describe this agenda as an expression of Cultural Marxism, which is an intentional effort to reshape or dismantle traditional Western institutions, including the family, religion, and national identity, by portraying them as oppressive systems that must be replaced in the pursuit of a “progressive” society. Under this vision, the role and authority of the federal government would be greatly expanded.

Paul Weyrich, co-founder of The Heritage Foundation and the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), described cultural Marxism as a deliberate ideological assault on Western civilization. In a letter written to conservatives in 1999, he warned that this dangerous ideology was waging war against America’s Judeo-Christian moral foundations.

Moreover, an examination of the platform’s core provisions reveals proposals that would fundamentally transform the constitutional framework of the United States. Among other changes, it envisions dismantling long-standing constitutional checks and balances while expanding voting privileges to non-citizens.

Eliminating Federal Checks and Balances

At the core of the platform’s reform agenda is a complete destruction of the three branches of government. As reported by Stu Smith in the City Journal, the platform’s “real democracy” amendment advocates for replacing the existing system with a unicameral legislature based on proportional representation, while stripping independence from the executive and judicial branches:

“The document commits DSA to scrapping the U.S. Senate… and ‘replac[ing] the President and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress.'”

Internal deliberations highlight the reasoning behind these changes. The DSA’s National Political Committee (NPC) member Cliff Connolly argued that current constitutional structures actively hinder far-left policy goals:

“We’re never going to have democracy or socialism in the United States as long as the president and the Supreme Court exist in their current form. The whole point of having the Senate, the president, and the Supreme Court is so that… the ruling class has these other levels they can pull to stop it from happening.”

By eliminating the U.S. Senate, restricting judicial review, and diminishing the authority of the presidency, the platform concentrates governmental power in a single legislative body, dismantling the constitutional safeguards designed to prevent the abuse of power.

Border Policy,Voting Expansion and National Defense

The platform outlines alarming planks regarding international borders and the electoral system, including:

  • Abolition of ICE: Dismantling Immigration and Customs Enforcement and halting all deportations.

  • Unrestricted Migration: Demanding amnesty for undocumented immigrants alongside open border policies.

  • Expansion of Voting “Rights”: Extending full voting rights to non-citizens and individuals with criminal convictions.

Brigitte Gabriel, founder of ACT for America, warns that combining proportional representation with open borders and expanded voting rights would be a disastrous policy. She argues that this combination would undermine national sovereignty and accelerate a shift toward centralized government without the constitutional safeguards necessary to protect individual liberty.

But there is more. Stu Smith’s article reports that the DSA platform’s international agenda would all but dismantle our nation’s defense capabilities. The DSA calls for defunding the military, closing overseas military bases, and unilaterally lifting economic sanctions against regimes such as Russia, Iran, and Cuba. Such policies would empower hostile regimes and create a vacuum for the expansion of Islamism and communism around the world.

Conclusion

In short, the DSA’s Workers Deserve More! platform outlines a radical agenda to destroy our constitutional republic. By subordinating the judiciary and executive branches to a unicameral legislature, eliminating border enforcement, extending voting rights to non-citizens, and dismantling America’s national defense, the platform proposes a centralized system that would erode—and ultimately dismantle—constitutional liberties while leaving the nation vulnerable to foreign adversaries.
