Pritzker Champions Illegal Aliens at Taxpayers’ Expense

Back in 2021, Governor Pritzker signed HB121, SB667, SB1596, and SB2665 into law. All four of these pieces of legislation enshrined into law Illinois’ stance on immigration as being one of the most welcoming in the entire nation.

The new laws strengthen the TRUST Act and make Illinois the second state in the nation to require local officials to end partnerships with ICE, address hate crimes against immigrant communities, expand workplace protections for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, and create the Illinois Immigration Impact Task Force to ensure state programs and policies best serve immigrant residents.

Governor Pritzker himself commented on the passage of these bills into law:

Throughout my governorship I’ve directed my administration to adopt policies that make Illinois a welcoming state for immigrants, and I’m proud to sign these accountability measures into law to advance our cause…

Every family, every child, every human being deserves to feel safe and secure in the place they call home. I am committed to making sure that value defines what it means to live in Illinois.

Fast forward to today in 2025, and Illinois Democrats have buckled down even more on their insistence that Illinois prioritize the needs and safety of illegal immigrants over that of citizens.

On May 7^th, United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, joined the Illinois Freedom Caucus in Springfield to voice opposition to Illinois’ defiance of federal immigration law.

The Illinois Freedom Caucus commented,

Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Democrats are hell bent on protecting and concealing criminal illegals, and spending your tax dollars to take care of them. As Secretary Noem highlighted today, we are talking about criminal illegals who are committing violent acts in our communities, and trafficking dangerous drugs into the hands of our youth…

The Freedom Caucus has been calling for an end to the Sanctuary State policies for years; and we are thankful to have President Trump’s support in this fight. President Trump and Secretary Noem are committed to enforcing federal law, and where necessary, imposing federal sanctions against JB Pritzker and his state government for refusing to comply.

It is time for the Democrats to make a choice; are you going to support your taxpayers and working families, or are you going to support illegals?

In expected Democrat fashion, Governor Pritzker responded to Secretary Kristi Noem– accusing the Trump Administration of failing to follow the law.

This accusation is, of course, laughable due to the neglect that Governor Pritzker has shown the state of Illinois and its people. Secretary Kristi Noem, in her speech, transparently notes the types of people that Governor Pritzker has allowed to remain in the state of Illinois under the guise of “compassion” and “humanitarian efforts:”

“In 2020… a 34-year-old illegal alien in Mexico was released by the city of Chicago after committing theft. He’d already been deported, he was a convicted felon, and they let him get away.

He then went on to sexually assault a 3-year-old girl in a McDonald’s bathroom, and in February of this year, 2 illegal aliens were arrested after they murdered a 63-year-old man…”

These are the kinds of people that Governor Pritzker and Illinois Democrats have compassion and love for– dangerous criminals, rapists, and murderers.

Illinois’ United States Representative, Mary Miller (IL-15), gave biting criticism to Governor Pritzker and Illinois Democrats who have completely and utterly failed the people of Illinois:

Governor JB Pritzker’s sanctuary state policies have transformed Illinois into a cesspool of crime and drugs brought by the illegals he is actively resettling…

Our communities are being overwhelmed, innocent girls are being raped, and Americans are being ruthlessly murdered. These are the tragic consequences of his failed leadership. I call on every local sheriff in Illinois to defy these dangerous directives, cooperate with ICE, and support President Trump’s deportation efforts. We must act now before one more innocent American life is lost or harmed.

IFI’s Dave Smith observes:

It is deeply concerning to see Governor Pritzker prioritize the interests of foreign aliens over the safety, rights, and security of Illinois residents. Too many of these illegal aliens have criminal records and/or have been involved in serious criminal activity since their arrival. How can an elected official—sworn to uphold both the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions—so openly disregard federal immigration laws? These laws, crafted with bipartisan support, outline established procedures for asylum and legal pathways to citizenship, which must be respected to maintain order and public trust.

We must join the call to demand justice and safety for the people of Illinois.
