Hordes of Illegals Continue to Surge at Border

Written by David E. Smith

On December 18th, officials at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported a record number of foreign nationals at the southern border, with over 12,600 apprehensions in a single day. Those apprehended are often processed and released — which allows “undocumented” immigrants to remain in the U.S. while awaiting immigration proceedings. CBP agents are mandated, by executive order, not to hold illegal aliens for more than 72 hours. We are now learning that Immigration and Customs Enforcement asylum hearings are being scheduled eight years from now.

The daily surge along the southern border — especially at the Eagle Pass sector — has fluctuated. However, throughout the Biden Administration, the CBP continues to encounter large numbers of illegal immigrants crossing the border. In fiscal year 2023, CBP apprehended over 2 million migrants at the border, the highest number in two decades.

In late October, the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security released its latest “Startling Stats” factsheet outlining CBP 2023 border encounter data, which recorded 269,735 encounters in September alone at the Southwest border. This is an 18 percent increase compared to September 2022 and a 40 percent increase compared to September 2021. You would think that this data would compel the Biden Administration to do all they could to shut down this invasion.

It is astonishing to watch how the Biden Administration is ignoring the open borders, which has made it much easier for drug traffickers to smuggle drugs into the country. As a result, we are seeing drug overdose deaths spike over the past five years. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the deadly drug fentanyl is being smuggled into the U.S. along the southern border. It has become the primary source of fentanyl in our nation, resulting in 109, 680 recorded overdose deaths in 2022 alone, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

You would think that the President of the United States would act swiftly and decisively to deal with the fact that fentanyl kills approximately 300 Americans a day.  But the Biden Administration is turning a blind eye to this multi-level crisis.

Then there’s the horrific problem of human trafficking. Mexican cartels have become more involved in this insidious criminal enterprise because it is highly profitable. The United Nations estimates that the global trade in human trafficking generates $150 billion in profits each year. In Mexico, human trafficking is estimated to be the third-largest criminal activity, behind drug trafficking and gun running. Unfortunately, there is a constant demand for sex workers, laborers, and other forms of forced labor in both Mexico and the United States.

On November 13, 2023, U.S. Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Mary Miller (R-IL) and thirteen other Republicans filed an impeachment resolution against Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas. H.R 863 accuses the Biden administration official of high crimes and misdemeanors for the failure to address the invasion at the southern border. According to Greene’s press release:

Mayorkas canceled border wall construction contracts that would have secured our nation’s border, violated the law by directing DHS to “mass-parole” illegal aliens into the U.S. when federal law specifically prohibits this, encouraged asylum fraud, abused the credible fear standard, and exercised mass catch and release policies.

Not only has Secretary Mayorkas enabled child exploitation, sex and drug trafficking, and fentanyl overdoses, but he has also done everything in his power to put Americans last. His policies, directives, and statements have created a national security crisis and have endangered the lives of American citizens.

As a result of intentionally failing to secure our homeland and putting the lives of every American in danger from his very first day in office, Alejandro Mayorkas is unfit to hold the office of Secretary of Homeland Security and must be impeached.

Congressional Republicans plan to expedite an impeachment investigation into Mayorkas next year. They say he’s intentionally broken federal law and undermined U.S national security and sovereignty — and Republicans say the numbers prove it. Last month, U.S. Representative Greene highlighted some immigration data that is deeply concerning, saying:

There have been approximately 10 million illegal border crossers who have invaded our country at our border. This is broken down between 8 million encounters and approximately 1,800 known gotaways, who have evaded United States authorities and are roaming the interior of the United States.

At least 280 people on terrorist watchlist caught, while attempting to cross the border between ports of entry.

Approximately 400,000 unaccompanied, illegal children encountered at the southern border, with at least 85,000 of these children having gone missing.

At least 1,424 deaths of illegals at the southern border.

Approximately 73,000 special interest aliens arrested at our border, which are aliens from a nation that promotes terrorist activity, harbors terrorists, or poses a security threat to the United States.

Greene also points out that “this is the number arrested at the border, not counting however, many of the 1,800,000 known got-aways [that] are special-interest aliens.”

Republicans also say that Mayorkas has lied to Congress about his claims that the border is secure. Anyone paying attention to the news – including the liberal media – understand that the border is obviously not secure under any reasonable definition.  Watch this recent Fox News Channel interview with former U.S. Border Patrol Chief Ron Vitiello who isn’t shy about calling out the Biden’s response to the border crisis:

We also recommend that you watch this compilation of short videos that demonstrate the daily problems that exists at our open southern border. It is a major problem not just in El Paso and Eagle Pass, Texas, but in places you’ve likely never heard of, like Lukeville, Arizona.

Take ACTION: Click HERE to send a message to Congress and the White House to demand that they take action to secure the southern border. Even if you have spoken out before, please don’t stop! We must continue to petition our federal officials and be persistent.

In order to stop the influx of immigrants, criminals, potential terrorists and deadly drugs, you may want to urge them to pass the Secure the Borders Act and specifically:
