Tell Congress: Support ICE and Border Patrol
Written by David E. Smith
Fund the Mission to Secure America’s Borders
For far too long, America’s immigration laws have been ignored, undermined, and openly defied by blue state politicians who promote sanctuary policies and refuse to protect our communities.
The men and women of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol have been on the front lines working to enforce our nation’s laws, stop illegal immigration, combat human trafficking, disrupt drug smuggling, and remove dangerous criminals from our communities.
Now Congress has an opportunity to provide the critical funding these agencies need to fulfill their mission.
Radical activists are pressuring lawmakers to weaken immigration enforcement and block resources for ICE and Border Patrol. They want to make it harder for federal agents to do the job Congress has already tasked them with doing: enforcing the law.
Take ACTION: Click HERE to contact your U.S. Representative today and urge them to SUPPORT the DHS funding bill that provides much-needed resources for ICE and Border Patrol.
Jim Marter, Republican congressional candidate for Illinois’ 14th District, highlights the seriousness of our concerns:
Foreign criminal cartels and violent gangs have caused devastating harm—fueling the fentanyl crisis which is a death sentence that is taking the lives of Hundreds of Thousands of Americans, including young adults and children. They are human trafficking, exploiting vulnerable individuals, both foreigners and Americans, and subjecting victims to abuse, sexual assault, rape, violence, and murder.
For this reason, I unapologetically support stronger border security, strict enforcement of immigration laws, and robust resources for Homeland Security and Immigration Enforcement Officers. These brave men and women play a critical role in protecting our American families and communities; while the seek to destroy and disrupt the dangerous and deadly foreign criminal cartels and domestic criminal networks.
As a future member of Congress, I am committed to supporting policies that protect American families, uphold the rule of law, and combat the threats posed by transnational criminal organizations. I fully support the funding of the Department of Homeland Security and ICE to perform their mission.
Background
America is a nation of immigrants — but we are also a nation of laws. Compassion and security are not opposites. A secure border protects citizens, honors those who follow the legal immigration process, and helps restore order after years of failed policies.
Supporters of the legislation argue that this funding is long overdue. After years of record illegal immigration, overwhelmed border agents, and sanctuary politicians refusing to cooperate with federal law enforcement, Congress must provide ICE and Border Patrol with the resources necessary to enforce the law and protect American communities.
U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) made this point clearly on the Senate floor recently, saying:
A core responsibility of any representative government is enforcing the rule of law.
Republicans believe in upholding this basic responsibility, but it’s become painfully clear – and I think it should be regrettable – that our colleagues across the aisle do not see this as a basic responsibility.
Every single federal immigration law that we have on the books… was passed by Congress, and that law was signed into law by a sitting U.S. President.
These laws actually reflect the will of the American people, and these immigration laws are just as legitimate as any other law that is on the books.
Our Democrat colleagues… see these laws as optional.
While groups like the ACLU call immigration enforcement “dangerous,” millions of Americans believe what is truly dangerous is a federal government that refuses to secure its own borders — allowing unvetted foriegn nationals, including dangerous criminals, to enter our communities.
Urge your U.S. Representative to stand with law enforcement. Secure the border. Support ICE and Border Patrol funding.
