Congresswoman Mary Miller Upholds Truth

U.S. Representative Mary Miller (R-Oakland) refused to kowtow to the trans mafia last week when she correctly identified freshman U.S. Representative “Sarah” McBride (D-DE) as “the gentleman from Delaware, Mr. McBride,” before McBride’s first speech on the U.S. House floor on February 6, 2025. Left-wing outrage and name-calling soon ensued.

Miller’s truthful introduction on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives sparked a significant reaction, as McBride is the first openly transgender member of U.S. Congress and identifies himself as a woman. Representative Miller later stated on her X account that her choice of words was intentional, asserting her belief in “biological reality” and refusing to “perpetuate the lie that gender is open to our interpretation.” McBride did not directly address the controversy during his speech, instead focusing on the policy issues he wanted to address.

Kudos to Congresswoman Miller for speaking the truth in the U.S. House chamber! Wouldn’t it be great if more Christian lawmakers and media types would refuse to pander to the politically correct crowd?

Thankfully, multiple polls highlight strong public opposition to transgender women and girls competing in women’s sports and notable resistance to gender-affirming abuse of children, such as puberty blockers and hormone therapy. Yet public opinion on using “preferred pronouns” is mixed, with significant variation based on political affiliation, age, and indoctrination level.

A YouGov poll found that half of Americans would feel uncomfortable using gender-neutral pronouns (e.g., “they/them”) if asked to do so. The majority of respondents also opposed allowing public schools to accommodate students’ requests to go by a different pronoun. Unfortunately, a considerable percentage of millennials believe that so-called “misgendering” should be considered a crime.

McBride, the Trans-Activist

Born in 1990 as Tim McBride, he publicly came out as transgender in 2012 during his time at American University. According to his campaign website, he served as the national spokesperson for the far left-wing Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBTQ lobbying group in Washington D.C. Before that, he served in the Obama-Biden White House as an intern in the White House Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, focusing on LGBTQ+ activism.

McBride was “married” to another trans activist (female to male), who sadly passed away at age 28 in 2014. Of “Andrew” Cray, the Washington Blade LGBTQ website, states:

“After transitioning himself [sic] while attending college at Northwestern University, Cray found his [sic] calling after participating in fellowships for LGBT organizations in D.C. while pursuing his [sic] law degree at the University of Michigan.”

According to this article, she “worked closely with the Department of Health and Human Services to create the Out2Enroll initiative” – a project aimed at encouraging LGBT people to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

Stand with Miller, Stand for Truth

The Woke Left is militant about their agenda and would use the heavy hand of government to force us to use their vocabulary and their “preferred pronouns,” which do not correspond with reality. Christians should stand publicly with those who are resisting this type of tyranny.

Pastor Doug Wilson has repeatedly urged those who reject the assumptions on which the “trans” ideology is built to live with integrity. In episode 179 of his podcast, (2021) he explains:

Obviously, we have to live in the world that’s disintegrating all around us. We have to live there and we have to accommodate to a certain measure, to a certain extent what the non-believers are doing. The Apostle Paul, when he tells us not to associate with a brother who is living immorally, he says in Corinthians, “I did not mean non-believers. I didn’t mean children of this world who are living immorally,” because then Paul says, “Then you would have to go out of the world.”

If, let’s say, this guy next to me is transitioning, and Henry, he changes his name legally to Heather. He’s getting hormone treatments. He’s doing the whole deal, and he is going to have… Well, let’s say he’s had surgery. He’s a man, he’s had surgery, and he says, “And I want you to use these pronouns. And my new name is Heather, not Henry.” Now, I will call him Heather because that is his legal name now. My name is Heather. And you might say, “Well, it’s an odd name for a man.” Yeah, sure, boy name Sue. The odd things can happen, but his name is Heather. And when I say there’s Heather over there, I’m not lying. But when I acquiesce and say that he is a she, now I’m lying. He’s not a she. He never will be a she. He can be a mutilated he, but he’s not a she.

If we believe the Bible when it tells us that God created us in His own image, “male and female” (Gen 1:27); if we believe that biological science is true and DNA cannot change; if we believe that “agents of change” want to erase sex differences; if we believe that they are lying to themselves and us; then we cannot shrink back. Congresswoman Mary Miller’s example should embolden us to stand strong in the face of opposition, criticism, and name-calling.

Thou Shall Not Bear False Witness

Truth is vitally important, especially to serious Christians. In John 18:37, Jesus tells Pilate, “For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” In the Ten Commandments, God makes it very clear: “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” (Exodus 20:16).

What these cultural Marxists are doing is antithetical to what we are taught in Holy Scripture. The author of Psalm 119 states, “Therefore all Your precepts concerning all things I consider to be right; I hate every false way” (v. 128). And Solomon tells us that “If a ruler pays attention to lies, all his servants become wicked” (Proverbs 29:12-13). Lies are an egregious offense to a Holy God, and liars are destined to spend eternity in the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8).

The Christian website Got Questions explains it this way:

False witness, or spreading a false report, is associated with being allied with the wicked (Exodus 23:1), willing to do violence to others (Psalm 27:12), and sowing discord among brothers (Proverbs 6:19). The Bible calls bearing false witness lying (Proverbs 14:5) and compares a man who bears false witness against his neighbor to a violent weapon (Proverbs 25:18). Lies harm people.

When we recall that Jesus clearly identifies Satan as “the father of lies,” we should quickly dust ourselves off and resolve not to put up with being lied to. Instead, we must expose lies and boldly (and winsomely) declare the truth at every opportunity we are given.
