“We’re Going to Terminate The Green New Scam”
Written by David E. Smith
As he is wont to do, president-elect Donald J. Trump has re-branded the Green New Deal, labeling it the “Green New Scam.”
The Green New Deal was first introduced in 2019 by U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and U.S. Senator Edward J. Markey (D-MA), both members of the left-wing Congressional Progressive Caucus. This big-government plan proposes a 10-year mobilization to tackle a so-called “climate crisis” by mandating a transition away from fossil fuels to supposedly “renewable” energy sources – many of which rely on government subsidies – with the goal of achieving “net-zero” emissions.
Leftists claim that man-made climate change is an existential threat to life on earth. Citing unproven claims that human activity (especially CO2 emissions) are causing rising temperatures, extreme weather, melting ice caps, and sea level rise, they demand government policies that dictate extreme changes.
President Trump points out that the U.S. economy needs cheap, abundant sources of energy. If we do this, he contends, this will cut the cost of living for Americans, increase business productivity, encourage infrastructure spending, and increase the labor force (jobs). He has repeatedly promised,
“starting on day one… we drill, baby drill. That’s going to bring down prices of everything, because energy brought it up…”

CO2 is essential
For decades now, climate alarmists have blamed CO2 as the main culprit of global warming. The irony is that CO2 is essential for plant growth through photosynthesis – which is the process by which plants convert sunlight, water, and CO2 into oxygen. Higher levels of CO2 can enhance plant growth, leading to increased agricultural yields in controlled environments like greenhouses. This is often referred to as the CO2 fertilization effect. Studies have shown that in environments where CO2 is artificially increased, plants can grow faster and larger, contributing to a “greening” of the Earth, as noted by NASA research.
In fact, some 32 authors from 24 institutions in eight countries agree that the roughly 70 percent increase in CO2 that has entered the atmosphere over the past several decades has helped the planet rather than hurt it! In this short video clip, please listen to Alex Newman and then Patrick Moore summarize why we should be skeptical of those who claim that CO2 from fossil fuel is going to destroy our earth.
Green or Red New Deal?
Many conservative observers have warned that so-called “climate change” concerns are being exploited to advance a more sinister agenda: Marxism. Demanding that government save us from this existential threat of extinction, their policy prescriptions demand global governance – a New World Order.
Now you may think that this is an exaggeration, but consider this 1996 quote from Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev:
“The threat of environmental crisis will be the international disaster key to unlock the New World Order.”
Climate alarmism is simply just another contrived crisis that is being used by left-wing radicals to promote ever bigger government. For godless agents of change, the ends justify the means. So even if the concerns are wildly distorted, they must cannot let the opportunity “go to waste.” The plan is to use it to fundamentally transform our nation.
During his 2013 inaugural address, President Barack Obama promised that part of change would be addressing global warming:
“We will respond to the threat of climate change, knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations.”
This point could not be made any clearer than by former U.S. Senator Timothy Wirth* (D-CO) who bluntly proclaimed at the first U.N. Earth Climate Summit (1992) in Brazil:
“We have got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic policy and environmental policy.”
(*Wirth is now a member of the U.N. Foundation which lobbies for hundreds of billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to “assist” countries fight climate change – “when collective action is needed more than ever.”)
Scientific “Consensus”
Democrats and their allies in the corporate media will quickly defend their arguments by claiming that there is “scientific consensus” about the existential threat posed by climate change. They assert that the majority of scientific evidence proves that human activities are indeed contributing significantly to their assumptions of climate change. Left-wing politicians, including Al Gore, Gavin Newsom, Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden have explicitly stated (in one way or another), that the debate is “settled.”
Yet that is not how real science is to practiced. Claims of “consensus” is a way to avoid scrutiny by claiming that the matter is already settled. The scientific method is designed to allow for various challenges in order to verify or disprove hypotheses. Science should never be subservient to the democratic process.
The validity of the scientific method is not obtained by voting. “Consensus” may be a result of groupthink, peer pressure, or even self-preservation.
The bottom line: Man-made climate change is still just a theory that has yet to be proven. Real science has nothing to do with consensus, but rather empirical evidence. Perhaps this point is best made by Michael Crichton, in a lecture at the California Institute of Technology in 2003 titled “Aliens Cause Global Warming”
In science consensus is irrelevant. What is relevant is reproducible results. The greatest scientists in history are great precisely because they broke with the consensus. There is no such thing as consensus science. If it’s consensus, it isn’t science. If it’s science, it isn’t consensus. Period.
“Consensus is the business of politics,” he points out.
The science of weather has been manipulated, massaged and wildly exaggerated. The corporate media continues to collude with “progressive” Democrats, hyping the narrative that climate change is an urgent crisis and that big government is the solution. A mountain of regulations from federal, state, and local municipalities have resulted in binding up businesses and damaging successful farming enterprises, especially family farms that are the backbone of the U.S.
The good news is that we have political tools yet available to us. With the election of President Donald J. Trump and a Republican Congress for the next two years, we have a window of opportunity to turn back regulations and expose the fake news of climate alarmism.
Pray that the Trump Administration and his federal appointees will take the steps necessary to unplug the globalist “Green New Scam.”
