Where’s Your Allegiance? Israel or Islamic Hamas?
Written by David E. Smith
As if the pro-Palestinian rallies on university and college campuses are not alarming enough, we have other strong evidence that attests to the fact that support for Hamas Jihad against Israel among college students is higher than it is in the general population. For example, a 2023 poll by Harvard CAPS/Harris found that 48 percent of college-age students (18-24) said they support Hamas, while only 52 percent said they support Israel. This is in contrast to the overall population, where 82 percent support Israel and only 12 percent support Hamas.
Could it be because there is an agenda to intentionally exposed students to pro-Palestinian propaganda? Many colleges have active Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapters, which often organize protests and events in support of the Palestinian cause. These chapters have been criticized for some of their rhetoric, which is overtly anti-Semitic. It is even in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion curricula, now required as general education courses in many colleges.
Moreover, college students are more likely to sympathize with the Palestinian cause because they are being taught a one-sided narrative regarding “resistance” against a so-called “colonial oppressor,” ignoring the fact that Jerusalem was the capital of the people of Israel 3,000 years ago — well before the Prophet Muhammad appeared on the scene to invent the Islamic religion.
Meanwhile, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution in support of Israel last week. The resolution was introduced by Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA) and was co-sponsored by over 100 Democrats and Republicans. It was the first piece of legislation considered by the U.S. House under Speaker Mike Johnson.
The resolution states that the United States “stands with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists.” It condemns Hamas for its “violent acts of terror” and calls on the group to “immediately cease attacks and release every hostage.“
The resolution also reaffirms the United States’ “unwavering commitment to Israel’s security” and pledges to “provide Israel with the resources it needs to defend itself against terrorism.”
The vote should have been unanimous, but 15 Democrats voted against this important resolution. One voted “present.”
Some Jewish Democrats in the U.S. House were appalled that more than a dozen of their colleagues couldn’t bring themselves to condemn the atrocities of Hamas. U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) blasted them saying:
“15 of my Democratic colleagues voted AGAINST standing with our ally Israel and condemning Hamas terrorists who brutally murdered, raped, and kidnapped babies, children, men, women, and elderly, including Americans. They are despicable and do not speak for our party.”
Of those 15 Democrats voting against this resolution were Chicago area U.S. Representatives Delia Ramirez (D-3rd District) and Jesus “Chuy” Garcia (D-4th District). Instead, they have co-sponsored a Congressional Resolution for an immediate ceasefire along with left-wing radicals Rashid Talib (D-MI), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) and Illinois’ Jonathan Jackson (D-Chicago).
Why do so many on the Left refuse to denounce Hamas and Islamic Jihad? Why are they instead calling for Israel to issue a ceasefire and effectively allow Hamas Nazis overtake them?
We encourage you to pray for the people of Israel and for the peace of Jerusalem. Pray for the salvation of every individual involved in this conflict – Jews, Christians and Muslims alike. We know it isn’t easy to pray for those inflicting so much violence on innocent men, women, children and infants, but we are called to pray for our enemies, and we know that more than anything, these Islamic Nazis need the saving power of Jesus in their lives.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
