Democrats Were Pro-Choice for Slavery Too
Written by Dr. S.M. Davis
I agree with the articles I’m reading that we need to boldly defend the Pro-Life position, but I have a suggestion for an entirely new strategy to do so. I think this would not only be a winning strategy, but would also strongly win over the black vote. We need to start saying over and over again:
“Yesterday’s Dems supported slavery and today’s Dems support abortion. In both cases they were denying that someone was or is fully human. And Abortion is worse than slavery. Slaves could sometimes escape the whip. Unborn babies almost never survive the knife.”
If every time the liberals bring up abortion rights, we bring up slavery, we can win the debate. Both issues divided our nation like no other issues! We need to say,
“Dems refuse to learn from history. Slavery and abortion are two sides of the same coin.”
Maybe we should have coins made with the attached pictures and start giving them out. Imagine if the graphic attached with this was displayed on thousands of billboards across the country! If asked, “Can there be exceptions for abortion?” we could reply,
“I am completely against slavery, but if it could have been outlawed in every state except one then that would have been better than nothing. The truth we cannot deny or ignore is that a slave or a baby is not a ‘thing.’ He is a human being.”
Dems once tried to destroy the Underground Railroad like they now try to destroy Crisis Pregnancy Centers.
Dems once censored Anti-slavery writings like they now censor Anti-abortion writings.
It took our country over 100 years before the Dems would acknowledge that slavery was evil and it may take 100 years before Dems recognize that abortion is evil, but we must never give up the fight.
Republicans once fought to recognize the humanity of slaves and Republicans now must fight to recognize the humanity of unborn babies.
When someone argues that it could destroy someone’s livelihood if they have to bear a child, we should answer that it destroyed the South’s economy when they had to free the slaves, but it was still the right thing to do. We are also willing to help the Mothers carrying those babies.
Virtually any argument used to defend abortion was also once used in some way to defend slavery.
Saying that if we outlaw abortion people will still do it is like saying that if slavery was outlawed people would still do it. Of course they have and will. People will always do evil things. That doesn’t mean either of them should be legalized.
In 1852 African Americans were considered by many people as “less than fully human.” Frederick Douglass in his speech in Rochester, NY on July 5, 1852 argued brilliantly against that position.
Abolition of slavery “was considered radical, extreme and dangerous.”
The abolition of abortion is considered by prominent Democrats such as Illinois Governor JB Pritzker as being “extreme.” His mindset is the same as his Democratic predecessors of 200 years ago.
What Ohio just did is the equivalent of being a Free State and voting to become a Slave State. We need to boldly say this over and over again. They have enshrined in their constitution that unborn babies are “things,” not human beings.
We should also remind current pro-abortion politicians that, 100 years from now, their images may be disdained and torn down, like the images of pro-slavery politicians are disdained and destroyed in our day. Highways and parks and schools will have to be renamed.
God grant us more leaders with the character, wisdom and backbone of William Wilberforce and Abraham Lincoln! The fight is the same! We are just in a different century!
