Congresswoman Mary Miller Speaks Out Against Funding for Planned Parenthood

Recent news is filled with the debate over Roe v Wade and the abortion agenda. There is no doubt that the upcoming mid-term elections will be profoundly affected by the dispute. Conservative Christians must show their support for life now and at the ballot box. U.S. Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-Oakland) has shown her support for life and is now fighting the evil industry of abortion and the leftist that supports it.

Miller issued a press release that states that Governor J.B. Pritzker wants to rejoin Title X and use federal funding for the Illinois Family Planning Program. The governor announced his intentions to utilize the federal funding, a $5.4 million grant, and state funding that equals $5.8 million to support the program. The total funds of $11.2 million will support 98 clinics, including abortion providers. Representatives from Planned Parenthood were present for Pritzker’s announcement and applauded his support for “choice.”

Governor Pritzker has already shown he supports Planned Parenthood’s agenda of death by singing the Reproductive Health Act in 2019. This law made abortion legal for all nine months of pregnancy. The law also ended inspections of clinics and terminated all legal rights for the unborn. We must stop this administration and support legislators that will do everything possible to help the pro-life movement.

Miller states that both the Hyde Amendment and President Trump had prevented Title X funding from being given to Planned Parenthood and abortion providers through a gag rule. The gag rule was thrown out when President Biden took office, allowing federal funds to go to abortion providers again. 

Therefore, Miller is joining efforts to prevent federal funding from going to abortion by supporting H.R. 243, The Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act. She has stated that she wants “to ensure that this Trump-era policy stays in place.” Keeping the gag rule in place and following the Hyde Amendment will prevent our tax dollars from funding the horrendous practice of abortion.

Planned Parenthood has already received massive tax funding from the federal government. From 2016 to 2018, the organization received $1.8 billion of taxpayer money. This funding was before President Trump issued the gag rule stopping the money flow. It also shockingly received $83 million in COVID relief funds, initially intended for small businesses. Planned Parenthood is anything but a small business and reported having a revenue of $1.6 billion for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. They also recorded net assets of more than $2 billion. We should not provide a single dollar more to these slaughterhouses that are only interested in ending the lives of our most vulnerable.

As stated by Congresswoman Miller, “We must stand up for the unborn and I will not stop using my voice to speak on behalf of those who have no voice.” Please use your voice as well, contact your representatives and ask them to support life by supporting H.R. 243.
