Will the GOP Back Its Pro-Life Platform With Action? (Video)

Our nation was founded unlike any other nation in history. England embraced a feudal system, followed by a system of peerage and a (dead) state church whose head was the country’s sovereign and often tyrannical ruler.

France endured a godless revolution, resulting in a political system constrained by the motto: “liberté, égalité, fraternité.” (i.e. “liberty, equality, brotherhood”)

That sounds noble, but devoid of God and godly principles, only freedom and equality are left, both determined precariously by the whims of the masses rather than transcendent Truth.

America departed those flawed systems, and her founders – all either devout Christians or moral men who believed in God and revered the Bible – insisted the foundation of our Republic was the Creator.

The “rights” so many love to quote, “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” were endowed or gifted (not earned) to each and every person by their Creator. Life was sacred because each human being was created in the image of God.

So we can truly say that the cornerstone of our society is the intrinsic sacredness and worth of every human life.

If human life is not sacred, why in the world would murder be a capital crime?

The dignity and worth of each and every life dictates that even the property earned by those individuals must be honored and treated respectfully.

Without inestimable worth assigned to each and every person, the whole of America will crumble.

With those presuppositions, consider the Republican Party, originally founded to be the anti-slavery party:

The Republican Party began as a coalition of anti-slavery Conscience Whigs and Free Soil Democrats opposed to the Kansas–Nebraska Act, submitted to Congress by Stephen Douglas in January 1854.

Two-hundred and forty years after our founding, and one-hundred and sixty-two years after the Republican Party founding, the 2016 GOP wrote a platform holding to those self-evident truths, “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence, is often accused of being a deist, if not a secularist. However, it was Jefferson who wrote:

No nation has ever existed or been governed without religion – nor can be. The Christian religion is the best religion that has been given to man and I, as Chief Magistrate of this nation, am bound to give it the sanction of my example.

The simple fact is that our founding and founding documents only hold weight in light of the Judeo-Christian worldview which affirms the sacredness of life.

The 2016 Republican Party Platform is unabashedly pro-life and offers the following unequivocal passages (emphasis mine):

We affirm — as did the Declaration of Independence: that all are created equal, endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The Constitution’s guarantee that no one can “be deprived of life, liberty or property” deliberately echoes the Declaration of Independence’s proclamation that “all” are “endowed by their Creator” with the inalienable right to life. Accordingly, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to children before birth.

We oppose the use of public funds to perform or promote abortion or to fund organizations, like Planned Parenthood, so long as they provide or refer for elective abortions or sell fetal body parts rather than provide healthcare. We urge all states and Congress to make it a crime to acquire, transfer, or sell fetal tissues from elective abortions for research, and we call on Congress to enact a ban on any sale of fetal body parts. In the meantime, we call on Congress to ban the practice of misleading women on so-called fetal harvesting consent forms, a fact revealed by a 2015 investigation. We will not fund or subsidize healthcare that includes abortion coverage.

We support the appointment of judges who respect traditional family values and the sanctity of innocent human life. We oppose the non-consensual withholding or withdrawal of care or treatment, including food and water, from individuals with disabilities, newborns, the elderly, or the infirm, just as we oppose euthanasia and assisted suicide.

That Republican Platform 2016 pro-life stance and language is clear and absolutely echoes the Founders’ words and intent.

So what has happened since that GOP Platform was written and adopted? Where are Republican leaders in Washington D.C.?  They control both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate – yet their resolve to follow through on their promise to defund the nation’s largest abortion mill is shamefully AWOL.

Planned Parenthood has been getting more than $500,000,000 yearly in federal funds from American taxpayers. Yes, that same Planned Parenthood that was caught selling tissue and body parts of dismembered aborted babies for profit.

Either life is sacred and we are created by God, or it is not. And if life is indeed sacred, if we are created by God, then the taking of human life, from conception to natural death is a grave crime and sin and should be anathema to all.

Last month, Illinois Family Institute issued an action alert asking pro-life voters in Illinois to speak out to their Congressmen. Our federal lawmakers will have another chance to defund the barbaric, feticidal Planned Parenthood later this month. There is still time to respond to that call to action:

Take ACTION: Click HERE to send an email to your U.S. Representative to urge him/her to reject any spending bill that includes tax funds for Planned Parenthood. Neither taxpayers nor their elected representatives should be complicit in the intentional killing of innocent humans in the womb.

We believe that all Republican “public servants” who disregard — in word or deed –the sanctity of life plank in the GOP Platform should be voted out of office. Sanctity of life is NOT a peripheral issue, but rather the cornerstone of any moral society.

How can we ask God to bless our nation if we allow over 3,000 precious babies a day to be killed via abortion? Why would God bless a nation that has slaughtered over 60 million pre-born infants since 1973 and the passage of Roe?
