The Four Pillars of the D.C. Swamp: Part 2
Written by Walker Wildmon
There are four pillars of the Swamp in Washington, D.C. Each of these pillars works against the American people and President Trump’s agenda.
The legislative branch and judicial branch are the first two pillars; they are discussed here in Part 1 of this blog series. Each institution, in its original form, was created for good. Now, these once good institutions have been remade into something that has and continues to hurt our country.
Today, we will talk about the remaining two pillars: the executive branch and the mainstream media.
Executive branch
Despite the fact that the executive branch is under the control and authority of President Trump, there remain examples of this branch actively working against the president.
First, you may remember when Sally Yates, former acting attorney general, refused to defend President Trump’s lawful executive order regarding travel from terror-prone countries. One of the main purposes of the Department of Justice is to uphold and defend the laws of our country, including executive orders from the president. Thankfully President Trump fired Yates not too long after her stunt.
Secondly, according to Fox News, during the early months of the Trump administration, transcripts of multiple phone calls with foreign leaders were leaked to the media. This means that someone within the executive branch leaked these transcripts.
Another example of the executive branch undermining President Trump is the out-of-control Russia investigation led by Robert Mueller. Trump appointee, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, appointed Mueller to investigate suspected “collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russia. To date, there has been no crime related to collusion found. In this instance, Trump’s own Department of Justice is conducting a witch hunt or fishing expedition into their boss.
On a positive note, most of the executive branch employees who were working against President Trump have been purged.
Mainstream media
The mainstream media or the “talking-snake” media, as AFA’s Bryan Fischer likes to say, are also working against our president and against the good of our country. According to the Media Research Center, the first two months of 2018 included 91% negative media coverage by a few of the major networks. The Washington Times has put together a list of 10 examples of blatant bias in the media.
You probably remember when CNN host Chris Cuomo claimed that it was illegal for the American public to view Hillary Clinton’s hacked emails. Cuomo selfishly claimed that the media has a special right to view these emails. We all know that is not true. Once information has been released via media outlets and institutions, the public can legally view the information. The person leaking or releasing the private information is the one who is in legal jeopardy, not the American people.
Another example of this bias is when a CNN host called President Trump a liar for suspecting that the Obama administration spied on the Trump campaign. Then CNN did an about-face and broke an actual news story about the Obama Justice Department spying on the Trump campaign.
The examples of such media bias and dishonesty are many.
The reality is that the mainstream media work in conjunction with the other three pillars of the Swamp in order to subvert the will of the American people. The American people must continue to stay informed with the goal of restoring these once good pillars of American democracy.
