SPOTLIGHT: Rev. C.L. Byrant on Tax Reform
Written by John Biver
In this week’s Spotlight podcast, Monte Larrick interviews the Reverend C.L. Bryant, a Senior Fellow at Freedom Works. Rev. Bryant also is the host of the syndicated radio show, the C.L. Bryant show on Red State Talk Radio. He is also the force behind the film Runaway Slave.
In their wide-ranging discussion, Rev. Bryant and Monte Larrick address national tax reform, the “non-existent” black conservative, the many problems in Illinois, and the current racial situation in America.
Rev. Bryant calls for the overhaul of the IRS and the entire tax system, which he calls something that would be foreign to our founding fathers. Pro-family economic reforms are needed so more Americans can experience the American Dream, Bryant said.
When Monte Larrick questioned whether such reforms were possible considering Republican Party disfunction in Congress, Rev. Bryant was adamant:
“That’s a good word, dysfunction, because we have seen an American dysfunction over the past, let’s say, 16 years. It has been moving in that direction and has gotten progressively worse. And perhaps we are seeing the apex of it now. But to answer your question, yes, I do believe there will come a point — there is a crossroad that we are approaching where we will see that it is necessary for us to work together in order to save the republic.”
