U.S. Senate to Trump: Force Transgenders on Military
Written by Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt, PhD
“New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democrat, and Maine Sen. Susan Collins, a Republican, introduced a bipartisan amendment to protect transgender service members from President Trump’s plan to ban them from the military,” reports Time.
“The amendment introduced Monday would prohibit the Department of Defense from dismissing current transgender service members ‘solely on the basis of the member’s gender identity,’ Senators said in a statment.
“Any individual who wants to join our military and meets the standards should be allowed to serve, period. Gender identity should have nothing to do with it,” Gillibrand said in a statement.
“If individuals are willing to put on the uniform of our country, be deployed in war zones, and risk their lives for our freedoms, then we should be expressing our gratitude to them, not trying to exclude them from military service,” said Collins.
“Last month, Trump formally ordered a reversal of a 2016 order that had allowed transgender people to serve openly in the military, but it is not clear how that will affect the estimated 1,320 to 6,630 transgender service members currently in the active duty military. Secretary of Defense James Mattis has said transgender service members will be allowed to stay in the military temporarily while he figures out how to implement Trump’s ban.”
[Dr. Chaps’ comment: If this gets dangerous amendment gets into the NDAA, President Trump should veto the entire bill. Mental illness proves unfitness for service. Lying is grounds for court-martial. Gender dysphoria is both lying and a mental illness, that will endanger our troops in combat.]

Trump restores longtime Ban on Transgender Recruiting
Without discharging any so-called ‘transgenders’ currently serving in the military, President Trump directed the Pentagon to stop recruiting future transgenders to military service, and also saved tax-payers from having to fund surgeries for confused self-mutilators.
Trump ordered in his 3-page memo:
“…by the authority vested in me as President and as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States under the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including Article II of the Constitution, I am directing the Secretary of Defense, and the Secretary of Homeland Security with respect to the U.S. Coast Guard, to return to the longstanding policy and practice on military service by transgender individuals that was in place prior to June 2016 until such time as a sufficient basis exists upon which to conclude that terminating that policy and practice would not have the negative effects discussed above. The Secretary of Defense, after consulting with the Secretary of Homeland Security, may advise me at any time, in writing, that a change to this policy is warranted.”
Throwing away the confusing attempt by President Obama, Trump wrote:
“In my judgment, the previous Administration failed to identify a sufficient basis to conclude that terminating the Departments’ longstanding policy and practice would not hinder military effectiveness and lethality, disrupt unit cohesion, or tax military resources, and there remain meaningful concerns that further study is needed to ensure that continued implementation of last year’s policy change would not have those negative effects.”
Halting surgeries? Trump’s memo further directs the DoD to:
“…halt all use of DoD or DHS resources to fund sex reassignment surgical procedures for military personnel, except to the extent necessary to protect the health of an individual who has already begun a course of treatment to reassign his or her sex.”
[Dr. Chaps’ comment: Left-wing blogs are complaining this is a purge, but unfortunately this memo does not yet purge liars from the ranks. It allows them to keep serving until SecDef Mattis comes up with a policy for keeping or discharging those now serving. Trump’s memo is a good step, but doesn’t go far enough, in my book.]
