Ted Cruz Bashes Obama for Calling 21 Coptic Christians Beheaded by ISIS ‘Egyptian Citizens;’ Accuses President of ‘Orwellian Doublespeak’

Speaking at the 2015 Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday, Texas Senator and potential 2016 presidential candidate, Ted Cruz, bashed President Barack Obama for labeling the the 21 Coptic Christians beheaded by the Islamic State in mid-February as “Egyptian citizens.”
Cruz also attacked the Obama administration for continuously ignoring the fact that most of today’s international terror troubles are caused by “radical Islamic terrorists.” Cruz asserted that America needs a leader that will not just identify the radical Islamic threat from groups like the Islamic State but also protect the liberty of international Christians.
“When 21 Coptic Christians are beheaded we see the president saying they were simply ‘Egyptian citizens,'” Cruz said. “They were murdered for their Christian faith and the president needs to stand up and defend them.”
Cruz also chastised Obama for labeling the January Islamist attack of a Kosher market in Paris, which resulted in the death of four customers and a police officer, as a “random act of violence.” The widowed wife of the Paris gunman, Amedy Coulibaly, is said to be featured in one of ISIS’ latest propaganda films entitled “Blow Up France 2.”
“From all aboard, America is perceived to have leadership of the world, but yet we see the president describing the horrible terrorist attacks in Paris as a quote, ‘random act of violence,'” Cruz explained. “There is nothing random about radical Islamists going into a Kosher deli to murder Jews for their Jewish faith.”
Cruz also railed on State Department spokesman Marie Harf for saying that the Islamic State cannot be defeated by killing the terrorists and that the militants should instead be given employment.
“The State Department spokesperson just said recently and said, ‘We can’t win this by killing ISIS, we need to give them jobs,'” Cruz continued. “What utter and complete nonsense. That is precisely how we win this. We kill the terrorist leaders before they kill us.”
Cruz accused Obama of using “Orwellian doublespeak,” and claimed that America needs a president who is willing to stand up and defeat radical Islam and a nuclear Iran.
“We need a commander in chief, that will actually stand up and defend the United States of America. We need to stop this bizarre Orwellian doublespeak,” Cruz continued. “We cannot defeat radical Islamic terrorists with a president who is unwilling to utter the words, ‘radical Islamic terrorist.'”
In discussing the 2016 presidential race, Cruz acknowledged that it will likely be a crowded race for the Republican nomination in 2016. Cruz warned that Republican voters should be wary of “squishy moderates” who are considering running for president. He urged that voters should be looking for candidates who “walk the walk,” not “talk the talk.”
“There are lots of terrific candidates and 2016 looks like it is going to be a crowded race. There are a lot of people here who are powerful and are inspirational and make your heart soar and inspire me every day,” Cruz said. “How do we differentiate?”
“We have a way to tell the difference. The Lord tells us that ‘You shall know them by their fruits,'” Cruz continued. “So, I would encourage all the men and women gathered here today to demand action, not talk.”
Cruz added that identifying a real conservative is much like identifying a Christian, who stands firm to defend his or her faith.
“Like my boss would say, ‘If I am ever convicted of being a Christian, I would like there to be enough evidence to convict me,'” Cruz said. “Now that is powerfully, powerfully true and it is equally true of being a conservative. If you are really a conservative, you will have been in the trenches, you will bear the scars, you will have been fighting the fights.”
