Be Watchmen on the Wall (IFS #497)

On October 9, IFI held its annual banquet in Elk Grove Village. Our keynote speaker, Seth Gruber, delivered a powerful and passionate message about the sanctity of human life and the urgent need for the Church to wake from its slumber.

I also gave a “state of our ministry” update, connecting our theme, “Created for a Purpose,” drawn from Jeremiah 1:5, to this central message: Christians are created to glorify God and must carry their faith into family life, the church, and the public square with courage, truth, and love. (See also Isaiah 43:7; Proverbs 19:21; Psalm 57:2; and Ephesians 2:10.)

I began by acknowledging the hard work of the entire IFI team, the dedication of our board members, and the faithful support of hundreds of friends and dozens of allied organizations. This work has never belonged to one person. Above all, God deserves the glory for everything good we do, write, say, or produce.

If you look closely at the IFI logo, you will see an open Bible at its foundation. That is intentional. God’s Word is the foundation of our work, including our role as a “watchman on the wall”: monitoring legislation and cultural developments, sounding warnings, and equipping Christians to respond biblically.

In the speech, I address abortion, assisted suicide, gambling, marijuana, parental rights, and public education. Laws help shape society’s understanding of right and wrong, making Christian involvement in public policy essential. We must protect children through biblical discipleship, defend human life, support families in crisis, and work toward the complete abolition of abortion.

Throughout, I emphasize that boldness and love belong together. We must oppose harmful ideas and unjust laws while loving the people we are called to reach.

Our purpose is to glorify Almighty God and enjoy Him forever. We do that, in part, by being salt and light in our culture and overcoming evil with good. Our responsibility is to obey Him today: to rescue those stumbling toward death, speak the truth, love our neighbors, and keep the light shining. As we bear good fruit, we glorify our Father in heaven.

Please listen to the message below and consider sharing it with like-minded friends who could use encouragement to fulfill God’s calling in their lives.
