Is Biology That Hard?
Written by Alyssa Sonnenburg
On July 14th, the U.S. House Education and Workforce Committee held a hearing that was titled, “Training Activists, Not Physicians: The Impact of DEI on Medical Schools.”
United States Representative Mary Miller (R-IL) pressed two medical school deans, Dr. Sam Hawgood and Dr. Steve Dubinett, on whether or not men can get pregnant. You would think that the question would be extremely easy to answer.
No, men cannot get pregnant. Yes, only women can get pregnant.
Surprisingly, or possibly unsurprisingly given the purpose of the hearing, the two esteemed doctors were unable to answer this simple question.
“Doctor (Sam) Hawgood, you see UCSFs Classroom Guide, titled ‘Framework for Gender and Sex Concepts in Teaching,’ advises against using the term pregnant women…
Instead, it says to use pregnant people. Who are pregnant people compared to pregnant women? Just curious.”
Dr. Hawgood’s response was that the curriculum was designed that way for students who would encounter patients with a variety of gender expressions. A non-answer. When Miller further questioned if a non-biological woman has ever had a baby, Hawgood responded that a “transgender person can.”
Miller then quickly reiterated,
“That’s not a biological woman. Has a non-biological woman ever had a baby?”
Once again, Hawgood failed to directly answer this question to which Miller rightly responded with,
“It’s ridiculous.”
Yes, it is ridiculous. It is ridiculous that we are still hear debating as to whether or not a biological male is capable of having a baby, no matter what his delusional gender desires might be.
Medicine, biology and science make this absolutely clear without ambiguity: only women are naturally born with the ability and the biological makeup to get pregnant. The fact that two medical school deans cannot answer this basic question which is taught in every single basic biology book in America, is ridiculous.
More than this, this exchange proved the purpose of the hearing– that our medical schools are overrun with ideology and not science.
These doctors care more about being politically in line than about being scientifically accurate, and that should scare you.
If we are to restore faith in our medical institutions and our medical personnel, we must get back to the basics of biology.
Men are men and women are women.
