Weaponizing Tragedy: The Left’s War on Law and Order
Written by David E. Smith
The shooting and death of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis was tragic, completely avoidable, and deserves a full, transparent investigation and a serious response. We cannot ignore the dangerous reality on the ground: federal law-enforcement officers carrying out a vital mission are being targeted, threatened, doxed, assaulted, and routinely obstructed. That cannot continue.
These mob tactics cross the line. The First Amendment guarantees “the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” It does not give anyone the right to block law-enforcement operations, interfere with officers, or assault federal agents.
Yet we know that paid protestors and trained agitators are deliberately working to disrupt ICE operations. This reckless behavior puts everyone at risk — including innocent bystanders, law-enforcement officers, and even the protesters themselves, who regularly and intentionally put themselves in harm’s way.
Vice President JD Vance rightly pointed out that Good was a “victim of left-wing ideology” and that the ICE officer had “every reason” to believe he was under threat, adding:
“The reason this woman is dead is because she tried to ram somebody with her car.”
That statement cuts through the political spin. When agitators are encouraged to obstruct law enforcement and escalate confrontations, tragedy becomes inevitable. This is not justice — it is the wicked fruit of radical, anti-law-enforcement ideology.
Political Posturing
Instead of waiting to know all the facts, allowing due process to run its course, and determining whether any wrongdoing even occurred, U.S. Representative Robin Kelly (D-Chicago) is rushing to impeach Kristi Noem, the head of Homeland Security. This reveals not a concern for truth, but a hunger for headlines and favor with the Democratic base as she campaigns for the open U.S. Senate seat in Illinois.
This is the same playbook the Left always uses: weaponize tragedy, demonize law enforcement, and blame anyone trying to enforce the law. U.S. Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Schaumburg) promises to be a co-sponsor. He is also running for the open U.S. Senate seat in Illinois.
They accuse Secretary Noem of “violating the Constitution” while Kelly and her Democratic allies work overtime to nullify federal immigration law. That hypocrisy is not only reckless — it violates the oath every member of Congress takes to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Ignoring federal law and attacking those tasked with enforcing it should disqualify anyone from seeking higher office.
Don Tracy, Republican candidate for U.S. candidate, didn’t mince words:
Robin Kelly, Raja Krishnamoorthi, and Juliana Stratton are once again aligning with the far left, people like disgraced Governor Tim Walz, Mayor Jacob Frey, and Mayor Brandon Johnson. When you compare this to Dick Durbin calling for a full investigation before reacting, you can see just how extreme my opponents are.
As I have said for months, tragic situations like this are entirely avoidable. If we had strong leaders focused on common sense solutions instead of playing political games with people’s lives, those leaders would sit down and work together to keep our communities and families safe. Instead, career politicians have given us chaos, unsafe streets, and entire communities living in fear.
State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) also responded to this development by saying:
“This impeachment stunt is a reckless abuse of a solemn constitutional power. Tragic loss of life deserves a full, transparent investigation based on facts and law—not a rush to score political points by demonizing law enforcement and a cabinet secretary. Impeachment is meant to address clear, willful misconduct, not to serve as a press-release weapon when Democrats disagree with federal immigration enforcement.”
And to that point, let’s be clear: ICE agents are trying to enforce laws passed by Congress. When elected officials refuse to uphold the law — or actively sabotage it — chaos follows. The blood on our streets is not the result of too much law enforcement; it is the result of too little.
What is really happening is this: Democrats want sanctuary cities, open borders, and lawlessness, but they don’t want the consequences. So when tragedy strikes, they scapegoat the very people trying to restore law and order. They rush to amplify the Minneapolis shooting of a trained agitator, yet they are silent when innocent Americans become victims of their reckless, woke policies.
Consider the Innocent Victims
Michael & Gail Clayton should be alive.
Laken Riley should be alive.
Jocelyn Nungaray should be alive.
Rachel Morin should be alive.
Anya Varfolomeev & Nikolay Osokin should be alive.
These are just seven names of Americans who were killed by illegal immigrants who should never have been here. Their deaths are the direct result of reckless open-border policies & a refusal to enforce federal immigration law. When politicians put woke ideology ahead of public safety & the rule of law, innocent people pay the price.

These are real people. Real families. Real harm.
Christians should see this for what it is: a moral inversion. Good is called evil. Evil is called good. Lawlessness is called compassion. Law enforcement is called tyranny. Abortion is called “healthcare,” and males are females.
Scripture warns us of this very problem in Isaiah 5:20:
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Politicians should be working to provide families with safety, order, and prosperity — not staging political stunts that inflame hatred, weaken public safety, and undermine the rule of law.
Secretary Noem should be allowed to do her job and enforce the laws on the books. Congress should do its job by making the law — or changing it if they don’t like it. And justice should be guided by truth, not driven by contrived outrage tailored for soundbites and social-media clicks.
