The White House, Teenagers and Media Bias
Written by David E. Smith
The Trump White House has officially launched a media-bias page on its website — and judging by the hysteria from the legacy press, the Trump Administration hit a nerve. Breitbart reports that the new page highlights falsehoods, distortions, and slanted coverage from the usual suspects. And the reaction from those “objective journalists” tells you everything you need to know.
It’s exciting to see a Republican administration go on offense rather than shrink back. For decades, conservatives have endured lectures about “truth,” “democracy,” and “norms” from reporters who routinely spin, omit, and attack anything that threatens their left-leaning narratives. Now the White House is exposing these partisan actors for what they are — and the liberal press corps is absolutely screaming.
The Media’s Outrage Is Evidence of Its Bias
According to the good folks at NewsBusters, ABC recently sent an internal email filled with 15 links — nine of which led to NewsBusters stories. That alone tells you journalists know exactly where to look when they want to see what they’ve been caught doing.
But instead of self-reflection, we get tantrums. CNN’s Jake Tapper, Jim Acosta, Oliver Darcy, and the MSNBC brigade react with all the grace of playground bullies finally confronted by the principal. Darcy even canceled his own outlet’s monitoring subscription because conservatives were “oversharing” his content. Translation: Stop quoting what I actually said.
Meanwhile, Acosta — exiled from relevance — went on cable to demand a collective media walkout from the White House. Yes, really. His solution to accusations of bias is…to abandon the job entirely. Easy to say when you don’t work there anymore. Harder when you’re actually responsible for doing a job.
And for extra irony, the usual outrage squad from outlets like the Washington Post ran to the Freedom of the Press Foundation as if the republic were collapsing because someone dared critique journalists. The same people who shout “speak truth to power” apparently lose their voice when the truth is about them.
Even America’s Youth Are Calling the Media “Fake,” “Biased,” and “Boring”
If you needed more proof that legacy media has lost its moral authority — here it is. A recent survey by News Literacy Project found that 84% of American teenagers describe today’s news media with negative words like “biased,” “fake,” “boring,” or “depressing.”
Roughly half of teen respondents said they believe journalists often make up details, give advertisers special treatment, or cut corners on fact-checking. Only a fraction believe reporters regularly seek multiple sources or correct errors — basic standards of honest journalism.
In other words: the next generation isn’t just skeptical of the media — they often view it as a dishonest echo chamber. And that’s after decades of press outlets pretending to be the so-called “purveyors of truth.”
Selective Outrage
The transcript reminds us of an inconvenient fact: this bias isn’t new. Remember Jim Acosta lecturing Trump like a kindergarten teacher? “Mr. President-elect, that’s not appropriate.” Now imagine him doing that to President Barack Obama. Exactly.
Newsrooms transform depending on who’s in the Oval Office. Under Republicans: feeding frenzy. Under Democrats: softballs. Except when someone like Karine Jean‑Pierre is so unprepared that even friendly reporters can’t salvage the briefing. Then suddenly the media remembers how to ask a “hard question” — but only because their own credibility is on the line.
And while the media obsesses over tone-policing Trump, it consistently downplays or excuses real-world violence connected to the Left: fire-bombed GOP offices, targeted pro-lifers, assassination attempts, political harassment — all buried or ignored. But let one Republican sneeze out of turn and it becomes a crisis for democracy.
The Double Standard
The same anchors who demand conservatives “police their extremists” refuse to apply the standard to their own side. Figures like Jennifer Welch — who openly flirts with rhetoric that normalizes political violence — are treated as legitimate commentators.
Yet somehow they lecture conservatives about fringe figures most Republicans reject outright. It’s the height of hypocrisy.
Contrast that with the media’s handling of Biden-era failures. The recent National Guard shooting — committed by an Afghan migrant let in under current immigration policies — sparked an avalanche of excuses, diversions, and absurd commentary. Some outlets treated the murderer with more charity than they show the former president. The shooter’s name barely made it into the coverage, while the media focused instead on blaming everything but the root cause.
Meanwhile: crickets about how the guy got into the country in the first place. Because that does not fit the “compassionate” narrative they’re selling.
Why the White House Page Matters
This new media-bias hub is more than just a political swipe — it’s a badly needed accountability tool. When history is written exclusively by one ideological tribe, truth becomes whatever benefits that tribe. And as we’ve seen for years, the Left’s media machine will erase, distort, and rewrite anything that threatens its narrative.
Which is why when a future Democrat administration inevitably tries to delete this page — we should respond with the line they love to use on us: “How dare you erase history.”
Expose the truth. Preserve the receipts. Arm the American people with the facts the press won’t voluntarily admit — and expose the partisan narratives that tell only half the story.
Shining light into darkness to reveal corruption — especially in the media — is still the best disinfectant.
