Community Unit School District 300 (D300), based in Algonquin, Illinois, is the sixth-largest district in the state, serving families across Kane, McHenry, Cook, and DeKalb counties. While the school board ought to be focused on academic excellence and serving students, instead, the spotlight has been stolen by Vice President of the Board of Education, Nancy Zettler—whose reckless words have inflamed the community and dishonored her office.
Disgraceful Words
On September 10, 2025, Christian conservative apologist Charlie Kirk was assassinated. Zettler responded not with compassion or respect, but by posting on social media that his murder was “karma.” Those words weren’t just insensitive—they revealed a stunning lack of judgment and humanity.
Parents and citizens quickly responded. Roughly 60 people rallied outside D300’s administration building to demand accountability. According to an article by the Daily Herald, the district was inundated with more than 250 emails, 80 phone calls, and eight FOIA requests demanding answers. Yet, instead of contrition, Zettler has defiantly dug in her heels and refused to apologize.
Local Pastor RT Maldaner of City of Joy Church in Carpentersville emphatically responded:
When I heard what District 300 Board Vice President Nancy Zettler said about the murder of Charlie Kirk, my first thought was: thank you for revealing who you truly are. Your words once again confirm the urgent necessity for you to resign, repent, and return to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us be clear: the so-called “god of karma” you invoked is not righteous—it is satanic and demonic at best. When leaders who are aligned with darkness are elected to oversee education, we should not be surprised when their responses to evil are themselves evil.
My plea to Nancy Zettler is simple: resign from your position on the District 300 Board of Education. Your behavior, blinded by ungodly principles, is unworthy of the trust placed in you. Our children deserve leaders who model truth and righteousness—not confusion and corruption.
But my plea does not stop there. Nancy, repent and turn back to the Lord Jesus Christ. Only He can forgive your sins and give you the hope of eternal life. Do not delay, for tomorrow is not promised.
And I issue this warning: if you persist in following demonic ideologies while clinging to power, you will leave behind a legacy of educational carnage. You will lead countless young people away from their God-given design to trust in Christ and down a path of destruction and despair.
Finally, I call on the church in Illinois—especially those in District 300—to rise up. Make the monthly school board meetings a place where the truth of Jesus Christ is proclaimed, where the presence of God is felt, and where righteousness is demanded of those who lead our children. Without the people of God standing boldly for truth, there will be no hope for D300’s future. But with His people present and faithful, the cause of Christ will advance for the good of the next generation.
Pastor Maldaner raises a critical point: school board official who celebrates the assassination of an innocent forfeit the moral credibility to lead a district. At best, such a person should stand only as a cautionary tale—an example of what our community and culture must reject, not someone entrusted to guide students and represent families.
Local school boards exist to serve children and families—not as platforms for partisan games or ideological battles. Parents deserve leaders who will put education and students first, not pursue personal vendettas or indulge in callous rhetoric.
Nancy Zettler’s actions have crossed a line. She has embarrassed the district, divided the community, and revealed a troubling obsession with pushing a left-wing agenda—including Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) indoctrination. If she refuses to resign, the public and her fellow board members must demand her removal from leadership.
Accountability is not optional. D300 families—and the students they entrust to the district—deserve far better. Her current term on the Community Unit School District 300 school board ends in April 2027, meaning she is up for re-election that year. If she refuses to resign, then parents, taxpayers, and voters must rise up and demand her removal from the school board.
D300 belongs to the families it serves—not to callous politicians who condone murder and who advance radical agendas.
