Open Borders: A Top National Security Threat

Written by David E. Smith

According to the far left-leaning news source, NBC News, illegal border crossings exceeded 2.7 million during the 2022 fiscal year. In their report, they claim these waves of immigrants “were driven in part by increases in the number of Venezuelans, Cubans and Nicaraguans making the trek north.” Of course that trend continues today and many conservatives believe those numbers are, in reality, much, much higher.

U.S. Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) sent a video report to Fox News showing “how migrants are moving to the U.S.-Mexico border through Panama, with between 1,500-2,000 mostly Venezuelans moving through one village each day as they hope to enter the U.S.”

In the interview below, former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Chief Thomas Homan bluntly tells interviewer Alex Newman that 5.5 million illegal immigrants have poured across the unsecured U.S.-Mexico border during the Biden Administration’s watch. While many are seeking good work and a better life, included in these outrageous numbers are Communist Chinese military operatives and Islamic terrorists. These are the major threats to national security.

Additionally, open borders have made it much easier for drug traffickers to smuggle drugs into the country. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the deadly drug fentanyl is being smuggled into the U.S. along the southern border. It has become the primary source of fentanyl in our nation, resulting in 109, 680 overdose deaths in 2022 alone, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Then there’s the horrific problem of human trafficking. Mexican cartels have become more involved in this insidious criminal enterprise because it is highly profitable. The United Nations estimates that the global trade in human trafficking generates $150 billion in profits each year. In Mexico, human trafficking is estimated to be the third-largest criminal activity, behind drug trafficking and gun running. Unfortunately, there is a constant demand for sex workers, laborers, and other forms of forced labor in both Mexico and the United States.

Homan’s claim that there are 100,000 children that have come across the border that the U.S. government cannot find.  (15:26 in the video below.)

Watch/listen and learn more in this interview with The New American magazine’s Alex Newman. Homan states that the Biden administration’s claim of illegal border crossings being down are based on fraud. Democrats hope to obtain political benefits including turning the migrants into voters and counting them in the Census to over-represent Democrat states in Congress.
