Biden’s Idea of ‘Freedom’ Should Frighten Every Liberty-Loving American

Written by Robert Knight

In this week’s column, I was going to summarize President Biden’s reelection video from last Tuesday. But George Orwell did it 74 years ago.

Big Brother’s slogan in the 1949 novel “1984” mirrors our sunglass-sporting “unity” president. Everything he says is the polar opposite of the truth.

As violent imagery flashes by, he says: “The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom. More rights or fewer.”

I don’t think that word “freedom” means what he thinks it means. Neither does the word “rights.”

He’s fine with having political prisoners languish without trial in the D.C. jail more than two years after the Jan. 6 riot. As for three Tennessee Democrats who disrupted “democracy” in their state legislative chamber, they got a White House reception.

When Mr. Biden invokes “freedom,” he’s talking about expanding government to wield more power over the rest of us. When he talks about “rights,” he means dividing Americans into identity groups and rubbing salt into racial wounds. Another “right” we have is an open border with millions of illegal aliens and deadly drugs streaming into our country.

He has designated $87 billion to the IRS to expand that agency’s ability to shake us down. The extra cash will unleash more federal agents to bust down our doors and paw through our couch cushions, looking for loose change and reasons to prosecute us.

Mr. Biden issued an executive order in March 2022 for research and development of centralized bank digital currencies. Such a system could aid “equitable” financial access (redistribution) and reduce “negative climate impacts” (code for the war on oil, coal and natural gas).

But pushing an environmental, social and governance, or ESG, agenda is the least of it. Mr. Biden wants to do away with cash and the freedom it affords. Digital currencies pave the way for a social credit system like that in China, where every transaction is monitored.

Citizens are privileged or punished depending on their ideological scores. You don’t have to be a Christian to sense the advance of a Mark of the Beast requirement for buying and selling, as predicted in the Book of Revelation (13:16-17).

In a similar vein, Mr. Biden is forcing Americans to buy electric cars, regardless of impracticality. The Environmental Protection Agency issued an edict saying that carbon dioxide emissions for new cars and light trucks will need to fall by 49% on average from 2027 to 2032. This is impossible — by design.

It puts a gun to the auto industry’s head to quickly abandon gasoline-powered cars and trucks. That will leave Americans with the “freedom” to purchase only vehicles that run on batteries made with components controlled by China.

Meanwhile, Mr. Biden is waging war on America’s fossil fuels, which power the electric grid, which we’re all supposed to plug into soon by the millions.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Biden forced millions to wear useless masks and submit to shots. He applauds the freedom of “educators” to indoctrinate our children in critical race theory and LGBTQ propaganda. He offers them up to unscrupulous quacks who chemically and surgically castrate and sterilize them in the name of “love.”

The real scoundrels, he warns, are “MAGA extremists” who are “dictating what health care decisions women can make, banning books, and telling people who they can love. All while making it more difficult for you to be able to vote.”

Let me translate: Health? He will see to it that every baby can be aborted right up to full-term delivery. Banning books? His Justice Department has called parents potential terrorists for protesting CRT and objecting to sexually graphic materials. Telling people who they can love? He is forcing an ever more aggressive LGBTQ agenda on every institution, including churches and our military. Christians had better toe the line if they know what’s good for them. In the name of freedom, his party criminalizes counseling for people with unwanted LGBTQ desires who seek to change.

Voting? He opposes election integrity measures, especially voter ID laws. He will insist on harvesting millions of mailed, unrequested ballots from dirty registration lists and roll out more unmanned collection boxes. He wants more early voting. After all, a month is just too short a time to expect his constituents to figure out where and how to vote.

“When I ran for president four years ago, I said we are in a battle for the soul of America,” Mr. Biden intoned. “And we still are.”

Yes, we are. Mr. Biden’s fellow Democrats voted unanimously against a bill to protect women from being forced to compete against biological men in sports.

The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act passed with 219 Republican votes and zero from Democrats. The bill won’t get a floor vote in the Democratic-controlled Senate, and anyway, Mr. Biden has vowed to veto it. Did I mention that Democrats really care about women only when they pretend they are men or abort babies?

Often, the nation’s two major parties seem to be two sides of a uniparty, but this vote was a stark reminder that elections have consequences.

When Mr. Biden declares he wants a second term “to finish the job,” it should send a shiver down every liberty-loving American’s spine.
