Kamala Harris Faces Criticism for Riot Hypocrisy

Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris is facing criticism after her remarks comparing the violence at Capitol Hill on Wednesday to the Black Lives Matter riots during the summer.

“We witnessed two systems of justice when we saw one that let extremists storm the United States Capitol, and another that released tear gas on peaceful protesters last summer,” Harris said in comments Wednesday night. “We know this is unacceptable. We know we should be better than this.”

Several have pointed out that Harris, who forcefully called for an end to the “assault” on the Capitol building by pro-Trump supporters, actually encouraged the summer Black Lives Matter street riots that resulted in more than $1 billion in property damage, as well as the death of former police officer David Dorn and several others.

“They’re not going to stop. They’re not going to stop,” Harris told CBS late night host Stephen Colbert at the time. “This is a movement, I’m telling you. They’re not gonna stop. And everyone beware because they’re not gonna stop. They’re not gonna stop before Election Day and they’re not going to stop after Election Day. And everyone should take note of that. They’re not gonna let up and they should not.”

Harris has not responded to the criticism or said whether she still believes riots should continue.
